He does realize, of course, that comets are continually being vaporized by the FUCKING SUN, doesn't he? A comet is a ball of ice. You can SEE the vapor coming off of them when they're large enough, and close enough, to Earth (it's a phenomena known as "the comet's tail"). JESUS CHRIST this guy's an idiot.

I agree a comet and asteroid are only considered the same thing only once they have entered the Earth's atmosphere and become meteorites. Asteroids by definition are made of rock, Iron and other metals. A comet is always madew of frozen water, hydrogen, and other gases. dust and gunk os found there but it is mostly a giant snowball. The reason they would like to be able to say that is they could use the much lower vaporization energy of a comet for the TESB calulations.

I see the problems with these Trekkies: Fanboyant ignorance. They know little about science, and don't use statistics, so most of their arguments are based on faulty logic. Some have been shown to evidence, but they don't seem to change. I say we make those people change.

To me, most of these guys didn't seem so much stupid as HORRIBLY uninformed. Their stupidity is mostly a result of idiot statements like "Borg are cool. We like the Borg," and "Star Wars ownz because it's got Vader," and my personal favorite, "Star Trek is cool, so it would win." On the other hand, statements like "TIE fighters have shields," and "Does anyone have any of the SW Essential Guides" remind me of the Simpsons episode when Lisa steals all of the Teacher's Edition books. I sometimes wish that I would violate my own stated principle and leave this board for someone else's once in a while so I could learn people like this some SW and ST facts, but I have made my decision and I'll stand by it.

I read through a couple of the exchanges. I found it hilarious that he believes Mr. Anderson. That in and of itself demonstrates a lot about his intelligence. More importantly, though, his blatant stupidity, obstinacy, and hypocrisy were all amusing to read through.

Well heat is motion of microscopic objects and KE is movement of a group of microscopic objects that can be described macroscopically. HOWEVER this does not mean the two things are interchangeable.
