Well if that's the case, and the CGN(X) does end up being 25,000 tons, then it could very well be 250 meters long, considering that's how long the Kirovs are, and they displace 24,300 tons standard.

It seems that they only way to get a nuclear power plant approved these days is to build a ship around it.
There is a precedent for such a thing.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

I thought the USN was going to go all-nuclear anyways so they'd have juice to power those nifty railguns they're developing?
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Possibly, although it would help to know how the electrical generation equipment is setup to handle all the extra output compared to a standard vessel.

Railguns are a bit down the road(right now it's the Advanced Gun System or something)
