A 39-year-old Brisbane man charged with raping and murdering his 10-year-old daughter has been remanded in custody after his court appearance this morning.
The man has been charged with murder, rape and indecently dealing with a child under 16 of lineal descent.
Yesterday his daughter was found dead by her siblings in a house on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane.
The man was later found at Mount Glorious just north-west of Brisbane with his seven-year-old son, who was not hurt.
His lawyer says the man was already under an involuntary treatment order and was released from the Royal Brisbane Hospital on December 22.
He underwent a mental health assessment this morning and has been sent to the Arthur Gorrie Remand Centre for further testing.
The holiday house on Bribie Island remains a crime scene and a crime scene has also been established at the family's home at Bardon in Brisbane's inner north-west.
Investigations are continuing this morning into the girl's death and police are waiting for the results of a post mortem examination to determine how she died.
His case has been adjourned and he is due to appear in court again on March 10.

Is there any actual evidence that he raped and killed his daughter or was he arrested because he'd been in a nuthouse a few days before she was found raped and killed so they just assumed it was him?

Nothing in the news has been specifically said as to whether there's evidence but it appears the police knew who they were looking for immediately so it sounds as if there may have been some evidence.

People expect far too much from psychiatrists. The rate of false positives and false negatives from any diagnosis is pretty high, which makes it had to know what to do with potentially dangerous people.
And even if you could refine it to the point where you could tell for certain someone had a certain percentage chance of being dangerous, how would you decide how many innocent people to lock up? The ones with a 90% chance of causing harm? The ones with a 1% chance of causing harm?
The people making these kinds of decisions have an impossible time. It's hardly surprising that bad things happen.
