magic the gathering

Post by Enforcer Talen »

completed one of the more torturous games Ive played today. Im playing red white, he's playing white black. both are overpacked with lands, and my deck is a pregenerated mediocre one, while his is an unthemed deck we're both famaliar with.

so he's bringing out creatures at an unnerving rate, and I have about 3/4 his number. it's a peeler game, where he just skims off my defenses as he replenishes his army. I go down to around fourteen life.

we both have around 15 lands in play. I use a burn spell based on number of creatures, and trim his nastier ones. he has a bunch left, protected from red, that sort of thing.

so, I bring out a red criter, 4/4, who's special ability is you can pay RR to put a +1-1 on target creature until end of turn. I instantly use this a few times, trim his army some more. we're roughly even - I cant pressure him enough to kill him, and he cant trim me either.

he uses disturbed burial and buyback to bring out two creatures, one with shadow, one with flying. I have neither, so I shrink them instantly. they go back to the graveyard. I also play a red critter that does one damage if you tap, play a red, and discard a card.

I do one damage. he's at 13 at this point. he disturbed burial his creatures again. I trim them again.

we repeat ad nauseum.

our creatures stay the same - it's just some sort of tormented split second of war, with his creatures dying and returning to life, me flaying them and giving their controller a papercut.

fortunately, you can die of papercuts ^^

-_-;;

If you have got 15 land, and still can't finish the other guy off, I'd say you're using a preconstructed deck

/me won his 2 vs. 2 game today... Very fun, I managed to turn my ally's 17 1/1 flying tokens into 17 4/4 flying trample tokens. Overkill

lol...my favorite card in a burn deck is Mirari. I use that and Enduring Plague to shut down most enemy decks, since they can't summon and I can cast doubled spells.

not my deck, mind you. mine was slaughtered the previous game, at -2000.

now, it's been a while, so the details are fuzzy. but it was a green deck, with 4 serpent generators, 4 druid/squirrel generators, 4 artifact weapon things that I dont remember the title of, and 4 cards that made each forest generate an extra tree.

so he had like 10 forests each popping out 5 mana. the serpent generators were generating a counter per mana, then sacrificed, and so were the druid squirrel counters. the artifacts gave a +1+1 to each creature for each of it's own kind in play, so they were getting (+4+4)20 for 20 squirrels in play.

the real kicker is that he was facing a white deck, and the card that kept saving him let him choose a creature from the green graveyard and put in back in play, so he could survive another turn. nother serpent generator, nother druid generator. . . you get the idea. by the end, we had to write a counter that said something like, 86 286/286s.
funniest game I ever saw.

I used to know an infinite mana loop. Forgot it. Damn.

My favorite card? Prodigal Sorcerer, with Gaseous Form. Pisses the hell out of people.

Yes... I used to know one too. Mine favorite? Overrun: All creatures you control get +3/3 and trample until the end of the turn. I've got a massive creature deck...

Merde. Misread. The "Effects that prevent or redirect damage" is only on creatures. Never mind. Been a while since I played.

Channel and Fireball or subsitute. As long as you have a single point of helth more then your oponent you win. Of course some people can get violent if you use this on them.

I've always been partial to Sleigh, although I made a fairly good (was) T2 Red/Blue counter-burn deck that relied on Madness. Still does fairly well in T1 games.

nantuko husk+ rotlung reanimator+ artificial evolution = infinate creatures

kamahl+ aggrivated assualt = infinaate mana

and so many other infinite combos i can't even remember them all. I had the unfortunate problem of being introduced to magic by some of the best players in the world. Unless I'm playing a BADASS blue control deck I'm almost always dead in 5-8 turns, usually on the low end. Thats only if we are playing type 2. Type one usually lasts one or two turns. With slivers returning to play though that might change. I'd have to say one of my favorite cards is the Temporal Adept, the built in boomerang effect is a killer.

Nothing but a Blue deck.

4 Sea Singers
4 Clones
4 Vesuvian Dopplegangers
4 Counter Spells
4 Power sinks
4 Mana Drains
4 Psychic Venoms
4 Impulses
4 Prodigical Sorcerers
4 Ribbon Snakes
2 Air Elementals
1 Time Walk
1 Nevinyrral's Disk
18 Land

Called "Home Shopping Network", one of the best control decks.

Counter your opponents cards before he can put them into play, and if he does, take control of them. The rest is to annoy the living shit out of him.

My friend had a blue/white control deck... Annoying as hell. I managed to smack him around good with my 8/8 trample creature though :)
For those of you with control decks, I suggest you look into Temporal Distortion from the Invasion series. Basically, whenever something taps, it has to wait an extra turn to untap.

Haven't played magic seriously in over two years and casually in over 3 months. Just lost intrest in it. Right now I have my ok goblin deck and my annoying Rebel Deck still in one piece. My friend use to be an utter fucking master at MtG. He had a direct damage deck that often killed in 4 turns and never took longer than 8, he had a deck based around a combo that allowed you to gain life equal to the defense of a creature you put into play+serra avatar+flicker then he would sack a shit load of life to an artifact that created a */* tolkien for 4 mana equal to the life you saced when you played it, would beef his life the fuck up, and then flicker it and repeat. Once got over 500,000 life in a serious game(although he could of won he just held back) Then he had a deck full of commons and uncommons and no rares, killer deck, had a lot of cheap green creatures a lot w/ fading+ rancors + giant growths+ over runs, another green deck based around getting large sums of green mana(priest of titania, Rofellos, Gaia's Cradle) and then using a memory jar, playing 7 new cards, and eventually being able to hit you with one of the 4 thorn elementals in his deck, or just stomp you with some other powerful green cards. He had several more decks, a very annoying control deck, a deck using the "Untap lands equal to the creatures casting cost" + clones + the ability to return cards to his hand at will to build up infinate mana and get a shit load of powerful blue creatures, a black deck with 2 demonic tudors, another annoying deck based for multiplayer(Multani, etc.). My rebel deck has a lot of cards designed to screw him over(like whorship and some flyers to counter act his thorn elementals w/lack of enchantment destoryers or air) and humbles, walls of glare w/ invulnerabliy. Often he would get double teamed in a multiplayer game.

I usually wound up getting my ass kicked when I played. Then I started buying all of the ice age packs and special cards. It only helped a little. LoL. My best techinique which has worked a few times, but has fallen short of killing someone by like 1. LoL. I have shitload of lands, and then Urza vaults and shit that get counters if you leave them tapped. Usually we do the standard 20, but a lot of times we did 40 just for a long ass game. I would hold out a little and fall to about 4 pts. My friends will usually use all their mana just to fuck around with me before the last hit. Jokes on them. I pull out a volcano or meteor shower. Basically an instant or socery whatever the fuck, casting cost of 1 mana, (red, they're always red) and then x mana to deal damage to target PLAYER. oh hell yeah. Like I said, it's fallen short a few times. But to see thier face when they go from 40 to 5 and see that I actually have creatures still out and untapped. heh. boo yah. i still got my ass kicked more often than not. I just can't stress that enough.

One of the best was if the volcano doesn't hit soon enough, if my Wrath of God (the rare white mix occasion) or The Plague. Devestates those fucking green users like there's no tomorrow.
