SG-1 1x12 question

Post by Zixinus »

I have a question regarding this old episode: why the flying fuck didn't Teal'c take his family back to Earth? I just can't remember of a reason even mentioned. And what's with Teal'c's old master? Does he seriously think that after that they won't hold him suspect of betrayal? Why won't the whole bunch just skip a ride to Earth where they all would be safe?

Evidently his hundred years of loyal service to Apophis won him some brownie points. Nonetheless, he is held suspect, and references this next time he appears. He had to beg Apophis to be allowed to join the attack on Earth.

Not as far as I was. I can't see any reason why Teal'c left his family behind.

First off Teal'c had no way to know how well he would be treated on Earth so for all he knew bringing his family could result in a short quick death for all of them.

Later on it would be assumed that Teal'c didnt feel safe about going back to Chulack to get his family. For all he knew the gate was heavily guarded and SGC was not all that excited about gating to a known Goa'uld planet for no good reason in their book.

Also it could be assumed that in the Goa'uld pretty much ignored the wives and children of the Jaffa soldiers. To the System Lords their Jaffa are just toys to go to war with, the non-combatants would be less than toys with no real value or even worth notice.

Apophis many times showed that he was not a typical Goa'uld so his using Ryak may have been a totally suprise move on his part.

Oh and then there is the simple fact that the authors never thought about him having a family until this point in the series. :D

Didn't the NID want to take him into Custody in the 2nd episode and ship him to Area 51 for tests? Imagine the SGC trying to justify taking into two useless non-combatants in their next budget review? NID would want to be in charge of them.

But that's still safer then leaving them at Apopsis's terriotory, even if Apopsis himself doesn't give a shit about them. They are the wife and child of a traitor, the Jaffa society would hate them if not outcast them. And somehow, it doesn't come across me that Teal'c fears NID more then Apopsis.
