Sarah Connor Chronicles premiere(spoilers)
Watched it tonight. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night's episode.
I think Sarah Connor needs to buff up a bit. Linda Hamilton trained to look like she was going to be ready for a war. Lena Headey doesn't look like she's trying for that mindset.
Thomas Dekker makes a good John Connor and its going to be nice seeing him on the show.
Summer Glau as a female terminator, who is already admitted to be different than regular Terminators. The fight between the two gave me reminders of the fight between Uncle Bob and the T-1000 in T2.
How did she get the parts for a time machine and gun and deposit it into the bank?

I hope he gets over his angst and he's not whiney the whole time. I know it's the Sarah Connor Chronicles, but seriously, he's the savior of the human race.FaxModem1 wrote:Thomas Dekker makes a good John Connor and its going to be nice seeing him on the show.
Pushing each other into walls. Yeah, but I would hope it gets to be more than that. I hope the tv budget isn't too harsh on the fight scenes.Summer Glau as a female terminator, who is already admitted to be different than regular Terminators. And John Reese? Yeah, a nice touch, but c'mon, like that isn't obvious as hell. And if they aren't totally doing away with T3, then are other terminators going to go after any known Tech-Com soldiers before they grow up?

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles premiere(spoilers)
I was kind of unimpressed with the series but it seems that there's potential in it.
Frankly speaking that brings quite a few "Why can't they..." questions.

So that's the setup. My main question is what the series is going to be about from the bad guy's point of view? More terminators? Where the hell are they coming from?
Skynet somehow knew about the changes to the timelines and hide a time machine away? They recovered the one used to send Sarah to the future? And it seems like the Resistance did the same. More Resistance fighters sent back in time?
The concept isn't bad, and could be quite entertaining, but there seems to be a lot of stuff shoe-horned in to get around the plot that the movies built up.

I for one was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty far from perfect but overall it was interesting and fun. We'll have to see how the second part goes, though.

I almost flipped channels when Sarah's chair was stopping pistol rounds.. thankfully one of the cops mentioned later that the thing had kevlar in it. That and the weapons behind the false panel are the kind of touches I like.
And was it just me or did that terminator have a better than average infiltration plan?

I saw parts of it, since I had to go out and buy some stuff for my parents, looks cool.
I liked the roll call part.

Dressing up as John? It's not that big of a step up from the voices thing that was established in T1. Heck, the T-1000 was able to pose as a cop for a fairly decent length of time.SylasGaunt wrote:And was it just me or did that terminator have a better than average infiltration plan?
It was smart, but I don't think it was a substantive leap above what we've seen the terminators already do. Though Cameron does seem much more "human" than the other terminators and I think there's more to that than just programming, see her eating a potato chip. We don't see the other Terminators eat.

The mere fact that Summer Glau is in this automatically piqued my interest when I learned about it. I didn't see the whole thing - I was watching it on the TVs at work - but from what I've seen, its decent so far. The dream at the begginning was kind of interesting, and I am definitely 100% behind its "lol what was T3?" attitude. I'm personally annoye dthat John doesn't seem like that great a fighter, as one would think that after T2, he would have clued in to some of his mother's combat training, but maybe we'll see him kicking ass later on.
When Cameron (I lol'd at the reference) mentioned Skynet going online in 2007, I started wondering if the events in T2 altered the future nature of the war, or at least pushed back Skynet's development, since IIRC Judgement Day is supposed to happen in 1999 according to T2.
Since they were able to assemble the pieces for a time machine and a raygun using only parts available in the past, I wonder how the humans' futurtech really works. Admittedly, its not as wild as trying to assemble a jet fighter in Ancient Rome, but still....

They might have been able to smuggle small components internally, I would think that would be necessary for the powers source for that ray gun at least. It would be easier with terminators, but it could be possible even with humans.
Unless they just inserted them into a cow or something and sent that back in time.

Well, yeah, that could work. I mean, we know that however this stuff works, anything contained inside living flesh HAS to work, otherwise the Terminators would never be able to make it back in time.neoolong wrote:They might have been able to smuggle small components internally, I would think that would be necessary for the powers source for that ray gun at least. Though I wonder how the T-1000 got back....maybe Skynet improved the time travel machine?

Maybe there arent lots of animals left in the future? Besides dogs and humans I mean.Junghalli wrote:I always wondered why they didn't do that in the first movie.neoolong wrote:Unless they just inserted them into a cow or something and sent that back in time.

Well, I was kidding. But, I imagine that there are no large animals left, or at least easy to find. What the Resistance ate is another question. Maybe some type of foodstuff created by Skynet for their slaves.
They had dogs, but they could have all been needed as robot detectors.
There was a nuclear war. The Future War scenes were in a wasteland that makes it seem unlikely for many animals to have survived.
Oh, and Peptuck, since we never see the T1000 come back in time, it could have been in some type of stuck on skin suit that was integrated into the liquid metal (something like this may have been mentioned in a commentary or something, I forget). Of course why this wasn't done to big batch of weapons is another question. Hell, the only reason it exists is probably to keep the fight too unfair by having a bunch of future weapons around.

I liked it. I do hope they keep ignoring T3 (the liquid metal Terminator was stupid), but they may just be leading into it.
When Cameron said they were going to the future, I thought they'd actually go back to the resistance, and have John Connor train his younger self... what, it's not like there aren't all these time paradoxes in the story anyway...
Although, I'm not sure how they can stretch the story out enough to make for a full series. I hope it doesn't become full of filler episodes with romance between John and Cameron, the way the second half of BSG's Season 3 did.

Perhaps. But, Robert Patrick posed as a cop long enough to get information.SylasGaunt wrote:I meant the one that jumped John in the school what with managing to snag a job as a teacher to infiltrate the room.
And I do have to say that pulling the gun from that far away was a bit sloppy.

I enjoyed it, it does away with T3. And while I didn't despised T3 nearly as much as the general consensus, I already like this continuation of the series more than T3.
I would also like to second the follow up to the chair scene not only saving a lot of grace, but actually being a plus to the episode overall.

T2 states that Judgment Day was in 1997
As for Skynet, unless I was distracted by the nude scene...
Development started in 2007, but doesn't actually go online and switch to "Destroy All Humans" mode until 2011

They better have a better explanation for "travel to 2007 to stop Skynet" than what was given in the first episode. What, they couldn't wait a few years, until more info on the Skynet Project becomes available, and sabotage it some time in 2000-2006 instead of that? It's like waiting for an enemy to draw a pistol before acting to defend yourself, instead of rushing forward to attack while the enemy's weapon is still in its holster.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.
Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.
They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

I thought the reason the jumped forward in time was Sarah couldn't "Keep waiting and keep running" she thought they'd go in sane, so Rivier, ah I mean whatever her name was decided to fast forward to the season finale from the Pilot episode and save us all from seven seasons of build up involving more and more convoluted plot lines, inconsistent technobabble etc.Sidewinder wrote:They better have a better explanation for "travel to 2007 to stop Skynet" than what was given in the first episode. Did anyone else catch the implication taht Summer's character was different and may have feelings or something after all? maybe shes more than a fembot. I saw the look Sarah gave them after that scene, kind of a surreal "is my son macking on a robot??" look.
I'm following this one for the story line but I have a bad feeling I won't be able to suspend disbelief for long, the fact that technology can't go back in time but a terminator can threw me off the first movie, what are the rules here, only bio matter can come through? So cotton can't come through I guess? Does it have to be "live" bio matter? Does your hair and eyebrows disappear?
if they have a time machine that goes forward in time, why not ahve John jump forward to after sky net is defeated? if Skynet did that could this explain how we still avhe a terminator problem? maybe skynet on earth has been brought down but Skynet sent agents into the past and future, so now we are watching Time Trax.
Kudos to that kid for busting out a video phone by the way.
