Oh, damn, you've gotta see this. I decided to debate the retards commenting there. Here was a latest jucy bit.
Yes, the retard reveals he is completely unfamiliar with asexual reproduction, something taught in Jr High bio class.Daleri wrote:Oh, so the requirement is to be both male and female further complicating the issue and making it even more impossible than a simple box forming itself!Darth Servo wrote:No, because (are you ready for this shocking revelation?) they do not self-replicate. That's easy! Just take a flap off of the box and make a female box!

He thinks that to form an animal randomly is just as likely as forming a box randomly, only the animal is made of lots of randomly formed boxes. He thinks it all comes down to the same basic principle.Stark wrote:What confuses me is the obviously garbled stock argument he's using. There are two kinds of analogies: the illustrative analogy and the argumentative analogy. The argumentative analogy is used to demonstrate a flaw in your opponent's logic, or to prove a point. The illustrative analogy is used when the other side agrees with you, but just wants clarification of exactly what you mean.Stark wrote:What confuses me is the obviously garbled stock argument he's using. I mean, can't form a box randomly, so can't form an animal randomly? Where's the fucking link there? Sand doesn't evolve jack shit randomly, clearly evolution is bogus! What is organic chemistry?
The problem with fundie morons is that they almost always use illustrative analogies as if they were argumentative analogies. That's why they use these stupid-shit analogies which simply restate their idea in different terms rather than proving a point. That's how their "youth pastors" explain it to them, so they turn around and use it on you. The problem is that their youth pastors are literally preaching to the choir, and these imbeciles don't understand that you can't preach to the choir when you're arguing with someone.

I find it stupid that the decision to include a field of science in the school curriculum based on how factual it is is being held in the hands of the school board rather than actual scientists, who know much better about it than they do. It's like having nordic (or is it norse?) barbarians deciding whether chemistry is factual. An exaggeration, but still.

This is the retard's main argument, that Job 40 and 41 are talking about actual dinosaurs, thus "proving" God really did write the book and dinosaurs walked the Earth the same time as man.
When pressed with bits from the verses that are clearly NOT like a dinosaur, he falls back on the old "you don't know for sure", "God is just giving us more information than we currently have. It will all be proven in the end that the Bible is absolutely flawless and you were all fools to not believe it".
Moron boy insists the passage is describing a brachiosaurus.Job 40:15-24 wrote:Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly!
His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.
His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron.
He ranks first among the works of God, yet his Maker can approach him with his sword.
The hills bring him their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
Under the lotus plants he lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
The lotuses conceal him in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround him.
When the river rages, he is not alarmed; he is secure, though the Jordan should surge against his mouth.
Can anyone capture him by the eyes, or trap him and pierce his nose?
And this is supposedly a T-rex. Yep, the idiot fundy thinks the T-rex breathed fire like a dragon.Job 41:1-34 wrote:Can you pull in the leviathan [a] with a fishhook or tie down his tongue with a rope?
Can you put a cord through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?
Will he keep begging you for mercy? Will he speak to you with gentle words?
Will he make an agreement with you for you to take him as your slave for life?
Can you make a pet of him like a bird or put him on a leash for your girls?
Will traders barter for him? Will they divide him up among the merchants?
Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?
If you lay a hand on him, you will remember the struggle and never do it again!
Any hope of subduing him is false; the mere sight of him is overpowering.
No one is fierce enough to rouse him. Who then is able to stand against me?
Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.
I will not fail to speak of his limbs, his strength and his graceful form.
Who can strip off his outer coat? Who would approach him with a bridle?
Who dares open the doors of his mouth, ringed about with his fearsome teeth?
His back has rows of shields tightly sealed together;
each is so close to the next that no air can pass between.
They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted.
His snorting throws out flashes of light; his eyes are like the rays of dawn.
Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out.
Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.
His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth.
Strength resides in his neck; dismay goes before him.
The folds of his flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.
His chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.
When he rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before his thrashing.
The sword that reaches him has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.
Iron he treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood.
Arrows do not make him flee; slingstones are like chaff to him.
A club seems to him but a piece of straw; he laughs at the rattling of the lance.
His undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.
He makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.
Behind him he leaves a glistening wake; one would think the deep had white hair.
Nothing on earth is his equal— a creature without fear.
He looks down on all that are haughty; he is king over all that are proud.
When pressed with bits from the verses that are clearly NOT like a dinosaur, he falls back on the old "you don't know for sure", "God is just giving us more information than we currently have. It will all be proven in the end that the Bible is absolutely flawless and you were all fools to not believe it".

That idiot who wanted “Under God” taken out of the Pledge should have been shot. I don’t believe having “another thought process” taught in schools is promoting idiosyncratic religious beliefs. I don’t understand why the idea of evolution AND the idea of another creation can be taught in schools? Then let the child make their own decision based on the PRESUMED thought processes presented to them, coupled with their upbringing. IMAGINE THAT - A WORLD WHERE PEOPLE GET ALONG AND TWO SIDES COME TOGETHER…
Gosh, Servo, you must be having fun with these people.Dani wrote:to ensure religious freedom for all means only allowing a theory of evolution in schools, with no mention of any other theory or thought process? That’s insane, no that’s socialistic…
I was livid when my son came home from school one day and told me he no longer believed in God, but was absolutely convinced that we were products of evolution. I’m sorry, but does anyone not see a problem with that. You can teach evolution as a theory, but I do not approve of teaching it as the ONLY theory because it’s not!!!

Is this imbecile aware that school already does promote more than one thought process, by having classes in both science and other subjects like sociology and literature, each of which has its own methods of doing things? But the particular thought process taught in science class is very specifically defined, and definitely precludes the possibility of some dumbshit "theory" like creationism which does not meet even the most basic requirements of science.

I remember playing a little game with Mith over at SB.com, he named a Biblical creature and I tried to find out what creature it best describes or which creature's remains could've influenced it.
We concluded the Behemoth, sounded most like an Indricotherium, because dinosaurs aren't known for their large penii.
Leviathin sounded like some form of pliosaurid like liopleurodon, or a mosasaur. Apparently Gustave Doré got the same impression, as his 1865 engraving looks like an enormous mosasaur.
You might want to ask moron boy why he though a T-Rex would go towards water, considering the kind of monsters that were large enough to consider him a light snack.

Well, I tried to tell DR and Daleri how it is, and the auto-thingy picked up traces of spam. The post is going to be reviewed by the blog author.
I would have gone into more detail, but I couldn't be bothered.I wrote: DR... You are an idiot. You clearly have no idea what evolution is. You are obviously thinking of abiogenesis. Someone who knows what they are talking about would not make such a mistake.
Daleri, I'm going to have to tell you to shut up. If you honestly think that Tyranosaurus breathed fire, you obviously haven't been educated at all. Period.
And don't give me this shit about "OMG WE DONT KNOW THAT HE DIDNT BREATH FIRE LOL". We don't know that Santa Clause doesn't exist. Let's start believing in him, too.

I mean, these people can look at a fertilised egg, a human when it's just a single cell. They can see the cell divide and divide again and consider it a person, yet when faced with the fact that small alterations can allow something initially a single celled organism to vary into multicellular life that specialises further into eventually humans and all other life, they think it's outlandish and there are walls defining organisms as "kinds" and preventing such variation.
