3D ships, vehicles, and weapons.

some of you may have seen my armored train renders on here and some may have seen my planes over on the TBO boards. some of you may have seen may stuff over on the old TDZK forums under the name Michael Vereen.

i thought I'd start up a thread for my stuff here. all images will be thumbnails unless I'm told i can post bigger, i can render at almost any resolution (i've tested it at 8000x8000 but it took 30min to get 5% so i stopped it).

feel free to make requests.

with the current crash state of my main computer i've lost access to all my custom parts and models. the good news is I've found a set of parts i didn't have before.

now that I've got a high speed connection uploads are going faster but since I'm saving as a .png its still taking awhile, if this format is to large i can step it down to .jpeg

I'll start with me first new ship, an attempt to differ from previous designs

Tthe model looks nice and clean except for the messed up smoothing groups or perhaps bad placed edges (I´d have to see a shaded wire for that) on the main turret.

Renderning an 8000 X 8000 image is quite pointless unless you want to print it on ISO A0 or something. But printing the model without materials and lighting on a 20€ plot would be pretty dumb anyway.

However if you plan to do that i´d suggest getting a different background image since it´s resolution is pretty bad and has this ugly stitchline in the middle.

If it's bigger than 800px wide, you need to thumbnail it.

Yeah, the turret top looks a bit oddly shaded. I'd also suggest adding some way to determine the scale of the ship. Windows are a decent method, but anything that people would expect to be a certain size would work.

Nice. It certainly has a lot of guns, doesn't it? One thing, though, that ball-turret at the back next to the missile launchers(?) looks a little weird, like someone just stuck a couple of pipes onto it. I'd recommend having a look at the ion cannon from TESB.

I'm all for unique designs, especially when it comes to space ships, but my mind always wants to know "why" even if my eye thinks it is cool, so...
What is the point of the nose of the ship looking the way it does? The fragile look to it?

Hit it.

just trying something different, most of my old ship were more funtional if heavily overguned.

as for the nose and turret, it's doga so its all a mesh of premade parts, i haven't made alot of progress in rebuilding the custom parts i had.

here's one of the earlier ships for comparison, i'll look around for a better background i should be able to use any image.
