In a queue you can get beaten up or stabbed by the people you're pissing off. Being in a ton of metal armour with an engine gives people more of a sense of invincibility...no one can do anything to them while they're in it.

I reckon it could be because when you're in a car, you're just pissing off other cars, and as we all know, cars aren't people. When you're getting the groceries, then you can't cut in, because that's being rude to people. You can tell, because they look all human and stuff.Keevan_Colton wrote:In a queue you can get beaten up or stabbed by the people you're pissing off. Now if only we can get most of the establishment there to chain-smoke, we might get some real progress with the Chinese government in a few decades.

It's bizarre how much different it is in Taiwan, despite the fact that the two countries are right next to each other (and may technically be part of the same country, depending on whom you ask). Here, I've never seen anyone smoking in a restaurant, and any sort of public smoking is rare.
Apparently the government's pro-smoking propaganda in mainland China has really fucked things up. And a little slightly-invasive government action against public smoking can really improve public health without killing the restaurant economy. Who would have guessed?

Exactly. When you're driving a car, the humanity is lost. You're no longer a person interacting with other people, you're encased in an armored pod surrounded by other machines. It's silly, but it seems to explain a lot of stupid behavior.Lusankya wrote:I reckon it could be because when you're in a car, you're just pissing off other cars, and as we all know, cars aren't people. There is also the fact that people can walk backwards, while missing the start of a car-line necessitates cutting in for a turn, especially if you're navigatingSeggybop wrote:Exactly.
