A Goa'uld on modern Earth
Inspired by a SB.com thread....
You wake up next morning and find yourself transformed into a[url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goa%27uld]Goa'uld/url]. However the world is still our world so you will not have to worry about other Stargate teams, system lords or other Stargate forces since they don't exist. The exotic tech seen in the movie and TV show is however possible and you come with the knowledge to build Stargates, energy weapons, starships etc.
So what type of person do you choose as your host to start with ? How does your new found almost immortal state change your life ? Do you go on with your normal life or become an evil alien overlord ?

I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Do we also have the millenea (ack. I know I butchered that) of Goa'uld genetic memories influencing us to do evil?
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

I eventually become evil, and take over. My major problem is lack of naquadah, of course. There's an entire episode about the only way to win being to deny the battle.
There is however, a small possibility of resisting this legacy of evil, some goa'uld joined Egeria's rebellion against the corrupt goa'uld ways, and Egeria herself developed a sense of morality.

Given that Orlin was able to build a stargate out of a few thousand dollars worth of components, I think I'll be ok.

We don't even know if the goa'uld have ever constructed stargates. Goa'uld technology is dependant on Naquadah.CaptainChewbacca wrote:Given that Orlin was able to build a stargate out of a few thousand dollars worth of components, I think I'll be ok.

We know that one Goa'uld, Baal, knew gate-tech inside and out, but that was on the level of tweaking and modifying an already-existing one, not creating a new one. As to the rest, however...an evil empire would depend on if I have a source of Goa'uld kiddies on hand to implant in other hosts. If not, it might be possible, but probably way too much work.

If the SGC does not exist, but Stargates DO exist, presumably you go and get said stargates, make your escape, and then come back with a fleet of Motherships to take over.
Remember, the Goa'uld once HAD earth - but then the slaves revolted, and there was no naquadah, so it really wasn't worth maintaining any kind of presence. The only resource earth had was people - but the Goa'uld, if they wanted labor, would just show up, pretend to be gods a little while, kidnap a choice group of followers, and be gone. In time, enough humans had been kidnapped that they formed a self-sustaining population on many different planets, all of whom were used to goa'uld domination, so it was easier to use them than kidnap fresh recruits.
So, I'd go to Egypt, get the stargate, and set it up somewhere safe. Then use it to go home and come back with an army to take over the earth. Without the SGC, Earth is pretty much hosed.

Find some poor, down-on-his-luck guy to take as my first host. Someone whose present life is so bad that they'd be easily pursuaded to follow me even when I'm not latched to his spine. His newly improved health and physical prowess will make it easy to start accumulating money through amature sporting or manual labour. A host would make a pretty good prize fighter, no?
Once I've made my first host a rather wealthy fellow, I have him make a large donation to a major university or research facility. We appear in person to present the cheque, get one of the researchers into a private conversation, then snake 'im. Part ways with my first host, leaving him to enjoy the fortune I've built for him and with a few favours to call in if needed.
Now that I have access to lab equipment and sizeable resources, see how much Goa'uld tech I can start to impliment from Earth's Techbase. Pattent anything that I can get working and use it to continue building a personal fortune. From there, keep the science going for a while. If the chance arises, see if I can get some important person indebted to me by quietly curing them of some disease. May not even require revealing myself I just sedate -> Snake -> cure -> reutrn.
If I can get a scientist loyal enough to me, I may even have samples taken of my body fluids, see if we can get something like Tretonin out on the pharmacutical market. Maybe get a clone of myself grown so I can have an accomplice to share in my career.
As each of my hosts starts to get on in years I set them up with a nice retirement or an unfortunate accident, depending on their service to me, then jump ship to some fresh young mark.

So we wake up in our nasty worm-like state? I suppose that means I'll go for whoever is nearby at first, just to get in a human body. Since tons of people will be swarming the scene to figure out why a college student in perfect health suddenly disappeared without a trace, I imagine finding some way to get into a cop wouldn't be too difficult. Hell, it seems likely one of those government agencies would be involved too. I'd just work my way up the hierarchy towards a position with the most money and influence. Being able to tap into all the memories of each host makes me think ever getting caught is pretty unlikely, unless one of my interim hosts is suddenly called up for a full-body medical exam. Once you make it high enough up the totem pole, a little bribe here and there keeps the secret safe, and I'll keep my host healthy myself.

I would probably go the route of Seth. Why try to take over the world, when I can start my own cult and get slavish devotion and mindless obedience to my every whim? But seriously, I would probably try to take over the world eventually, and without that meddling SG-1 I probably have a good chance of it.

Well, there is the possibility of slowly making political turns all over, going along Yuri's path more or less, until I effectively rule the world.
Once I have the right technology and powerbase, I might clean up some corruption and simplify certain government inefficiencies. With my power, I might also be able to calm down and effectively take over several troubled countries. If I can restore (or even make) peace and order, the people would be very grateful and I could get quite a few loyal followers.
Developing or even finding some stargates might be handy. I can relocate my power base to some planets where I effectively rule supreme. This time, with modern technologies and the like that I are loyal to me, I can gain and harness Naqudah far more effectively then any horde of miserable slaves.
Or I could find a neat and more-or-less willing host (cancer patients anyone?), abide my time and do stuff that I always wanted to.

Corpse Disposal it is then. Once I'm settled into the scientist I'll be able to stay in the one body for a few decades. By the time I need a new one, I may have invented the med-tech needed to safely remove me from people as needed. It may be enough to just toss the abbandonned body sarcophagus-equivalent for a few minutes.NecronLord wrote:Even the Tok'ra find it immensely difficult and dangerous to try and leave one host without killing them.
