Tomb Worlds in ST Galaxy? (ST vs 40K)

Post by WesFox13 »

You know. After looking at the whole "Ancient Humanoid" article on Memory Alpha, I wondered what it could have been that destroyed their race ages ago. Then it got me thinking, could it be possible for Tomb Worlds to exist in the ST Galaxy?

I mean it could be possible, Necrons have been slumbering for millions of years in their tomb worlds so I think they could be there. During their slumber the "Inflection" of life has spread once more. All it could take is a careless Federation scientist or some other space faring species to accidentally stumble upon a tomb world and reawaken the Necrons and their campaign of galactic purge could start again.

Do you think this is even a slightly remote possibility?

That would be the most one sided war in the history of Trek. Unles you cound Technobabble as a form of warp influence, the Necrons would be totally immune, since their tech is so far ahead of the Federation.

You mean like the world with the Guardian? - TOS The City on the Edge of Forever

The old series had a number of world that belonged to various civilizations that had died out, some with some tech so advanced as to be scary, god-like, or both.

Tomb Worlds are worlds which have been inhabited by dormant Necrons for millions of years. A Tomb World is seemingly long abandoned, and have a tendency to be barren and lifeless desert worlds. They also could have Necrontyr ruins on the surface.

Not really, as there would have been no reason for them to go into slumber in the first place.

OK, I obviously stumbled into this thinking we were somehow talking about Star Trek and it seems we aren't.

Uh... what's a "necron" in the sense you used it?

Some race in 40K. I just blame the topic creator for assuming people automatically recognize this because it's from said game system.

Oh, I see - yes, that was a bit arrogant assuming everyone knows about/plays 40k. Um... is that that "Warhammer" thing I've heard about? Would have been helpful to have been a bit more explicit in the OP

Edited the title...

No. There could not be Tomb Worlds in Star Trek, because they are entirely different universes.

Yes there could be something similar by some similar race.

Such a species would barely notice the Federation. There are far more important races for the necron/cyberman knockoff to worry about, to name a few, the Q, the Organians, Trelane's Race, The Thasians, The Douwd...

If they're a bit less ambitious, they could instead consider more advanced races that are still made of physical matter, such as the Metrons, the Voth, the First Federation, the Kelvans, the Melkotians, the Vians, the Telosians...

Getting the picture?

There's nothing the Federation could do against a race at the necron technological level, they quite literally wouldn't have a prayer; save those directed at the ancient race to beg for their mercy. Which would be thier sole viable survival strategy.

It's basically the same as a Galactic Empire force but with even more crippling strategic and logistical advantages. There's also no reason - aside from spite - such a race would even care to invade the UFP, they've many, many, more advanced species to concern themselves with, and the UFP basically has nothing they would value and if they did, it would be like taking candy from a baby. Only easier.

While a race as advanced as the Necrons would generally have no reason to invade the UFP, the literal Necrons do. Their C'Tan masters snort the souls of sentient beings. Yes, "snort", we're more like cocaine to them than nourishment, their actual food is stars.

Best way to describe them is that they have a transport technology that is advance enough to whisk the "farmers" back to their home if they start losing too bad. Why do I call them farmers because they gather souls for their C'tan masters. Their ships/farm equipment have enough shielding to withstand at least multi-gigatonnes of TNT to multi-teratonnes of TNT and even possibly multi-petatonnes of TNT, if Connor MacLeod's calculation on the nova cannon is any indication.

Shit i might as well make that Boskone vs Federation thread i always wanted.

No, no, but seriously, that's an example of how one-sided this is. Basically the same thing, in fact. The UFP literally can not hurt the C'Tan and their Necron minions, braindead and slavish as they may be, would kill the hell out of whatever the Federation has for soldiers. Starfleet security i guess.

I think you all possibly missed the point for the Question I asked, I should have asked it more clearly. What I was asking was could it be possible for something like the Necrons' Tomb Worlds and something like the Necrons themselves to exist in the ST Galaxy?

Yes I already know that the Federation (Along with anyone else in the ST Galaxy) would get "OMGWTFPWNED" so to speak, by the actual Necrons.

And yes, it was kind of stupid to automatically assume everyone knew about 40k in these forums.

In theory something like the necrons could exist, sure. We've seen all sorts of weirdness there, and if some author wants an army of pseudo-Egyptian soul-eating undead with particle beams from hell, why not?

Then again, why? The question posed seems fairly vacuous to me.

No. This is completely impossible.

Go ahead, try to write a story about it. You can't. Impossible.
