Decent enough site...like the archives.

Though the guy seems to love anything Trek...which I'm glad he doesn't(or currently doesn't) engage in ST vs wars.

That is just pathetic. His website has NOTHING to do with the VS debates and your stance on the issue is apalling.

It's a good site. A good place to find canon information but the analysis is rather poor. Too much psuedoscience.

And why is that a trek site needs to implicitly concede theVS debate even when it has nothing to do with it? Would you expect Curtis Saxton to say "Wars would stomp Trek" on his site which likewise has nothing to do with the VS debates?

Indeed, Darth Pounder, it's an incredibly irrational position to take.

I didn't have any problems with the site, Bernd even helped me once in a vs. debate, though I doubt he actually knew it was for that purpose, I was debating wheter the warpcore was a subspace power tap or a MA/AM generator, he agreed with me.

Though some of this news brought up here is rather depressing for me to hear that he's not adhering to the scientific method and his stance on vs. debating(that they can't be compared and so on).

Personally, I think its a decent site. Especially for reference material. Some of their arguements are a little flawed, but thats to be expected. Nobody is perfect. :)

The sites good. From a web design point of view it's not bad at all, though I don't like the layout (the things I big table so you've got to keep loading the navigation, give me a frameset any day).
From a content point of view, it's not top notch, but you can even learn something from it's flaws, so I'll give it a decent.

Anyway, the person who said they won't look at a StarTrek site unless it has a disclaimer that says that StarWars is better needs to maybe think for a second. It's not a versus site. Why should the builder put such a disclaimer on a purely StarTrek site? StarWars is irrelevant to the sites content, whether StarWars can whip StarTrek or not.

Bernd Schneider wrote:Never bother me with such childish requests. The two science fiction universes were designed to remain strictly separate. While it is already hard to apply the rules of real-world physics to either of them, the two fictions are absolutely irreconcilable with each other. You are free to create a cross-over fan fiction, but don't expect it to make any sense, much less expect to find any valid "proof" why your ship should be superior to one of a different universe. And aside from that, I hate the fanboyish bias of cross-over fiction that seems to fulfill the only purpose to disparage the other fiction. You will receive no support whatsoever from me in such an attempt.
Didn't stop him from giving Graham Kennedy's site, with the most grotesquely biased crossover fanfic in history, a big thumbs-up and top awards, did it?

Shut the hell up, Pounder. You have no right to come into a thread like this and deliberately hijack it to serve your own purposes, particularly after NUMEROUS posters already (correctly) dismissed your comments as being irrational, you then berated them purposelessly. Desist from this activity at once.

I think that Ex Astris Scientia is one of the better Trek sites out there, I have used it several times for various things, and its layout is better than most.

I knida like the fact that it establishes itself as not going into the Vs. Debates, we dont need every Star Trek or Star Wars site engaging in the debate, the amount that there is now is enough.

It's a good source of information. He just doesn't care to subject it to rational analysis, that's all.

Incidentally, Pounder, I guess what really set me off about your post was the idea that a ST site must somehow justify itself to you by admitting that SW would win in order to establish itself as a reasonable site. No site should have to deal with anything outside of its expertise in order to become reasonable. If I made a site about Star Wars, I don't think it would be particularly fair to be judged on my comparative lack of knowledge of SG-1, and I don't think that someone should be held at fault for that. If I asked you to referee the soccer games I've done this weekend (state championship tournament for California), you'd probably be clueless, but that has nothing to do with your knowledge of science fiction and is not a "problem" or even a negative mark. I was roundly criticized on SB.com for not addressing various concerns on my rebuttal of Mr. Anderson's site, but what many of the posters did was treat my rebuttal as if I should have rebutted every POSSIBLE argument, and that was clearly unreasonable.

In general, Ex Astris Scientia is a useful depository for Star Trek information, especially with regard to the dimensions and aesthetics of starships. Amongst Star Trek sites, it is of better quality and usefulness than most.

Fair enough. I just wish I knew why its author would be running around talking trash about me this whole time, since I haven't mentioned him once since we exchanged E-mail several years ago (until now, when I found out what he's been doing). Is he really that much of a sore loser?

By all appearances, yes. Quite so, in fact.

Hostility toward you personally appears to be a common ground among certain Star Trek site creators.
