As with last week, didn't see the ususal thread up, so here we go. Overall, still filler, but pretty funny at times; I swear I never get tired of the Sheppard/McKay interactions.

Interesting that the Ancients developed drones on that planet. Either they only developed the mini-drones there, the drones in use in Pegasus were different from the ones in the Milky Way, or the Ancients were already in Pegasus before Atlantis left Earth. Which, incidentally, was part of the premise of an Atlantis novel I read last week...
That painting was awesome.

Damn necon you're right. i thought they were finally fixing an inconsistency that the drones they used in lost city were smaller and killed the kull warriors. Confirming that there are in fact mini drones would ahve fixed that confusion as we saw theKull warriors surrounded on screen by little energy things.
But unless they went back and upgraded Earth's outpost they wouldn't have ahd the mini drones on Earth would they.
If the ancients DID upgrade Earths defenses it makes it a more plausible fall back position. maybe they went through the gate, left that one girl to man the defense outpost (not a good plan since she ended up facedown in a snowbank for like ten thousand years)
Even sinking my city under the ocean id be a little concerned that the wraith would eventually get into it and find out where i was going and figure out how to follow me.
Whatever the continuity is all screewed up, if they try to nail it down they'll jsut make more contradictions, just smile and nod.

Actually, if Wikipedia is to be believed, the Ancients were chased out of their first galaxy by the Ori to the Milky Way and Earth, then left the Milky Way to go to Pegasus due to a plague. Of course, that caused a war against the Wraith, so the Ancients would have needed to develop new weapons - like mini-drones. Of course, in the end they lost the war, so retreated back to earth, but would have presumably brought as much military hardware as possible with them just in case - again, the mini-drones.

We did actually see Janus do at least something about this. He locked the Atlantis stargate so it could only be accessed from Earth.Themightytom wrote:Even sinking my city under the ocean id be a little concerned that the wraith would eventually get into it and find out where i was going and figure out how to follow me.
In all honesty, it's not a problem. The Ancients were around for millions of years. More than enough time to visit the old homestead and upgrade its defences if they chose.Whatever the continuity is all screewed up, if they try to nail it down they'll jsut make more contradictions, just smile and nod.
By the time the Ancients retreated, it seems likely they would have ended up coming through Ra's stargate.Darth Smiley wrote:Actually, if Wikipedia is to be believed, the Ancients were chased out of their first galaxy by the Ori to the Milky Way and Earth, then left the Milky Way to go to Pegasus due to a plague. One thing that I don't get.
They find an advanced prototype Ancient weapons platoform.
It still works tens of thousands of years after the Ancients left Pegasus.
It fires DRONES, which we all know require a huge amount of power...
Did anyone else think of looking for the ZPM doubtless buried somewhere inside the temple?
Or having Apollo or Daedalus move into orbit and just beam up the whole thing?
And while we're at it, why wasn't McKay using his Ancient doohicky to scan around the place for the Genni?
As for the episode? Surprisingly very very good, I found I really liked it.
And the picture at the end? Pwned.

To be fair, the number of mini-drones we saw, had about the same volume as a single normal drone. A puddle jumper power supply would do.Chris OFarrell wrote:It fires DRONES, which we all know require a huge amount of power...

This was something I noticed as well. Halfway through the episode it was "Lifesigns detector anyone?" I figured he didn't have one, until they got to the drone area and then he pulled out a device that has always served as one. Oversight on the writers, I guess, but it certainly would have helped them.Chris OFarrell wrote: And while we're at it, why wasn't McKay using his Ancient doohicky to scan around the place for the Genni?
It's Jodan, not Jordan. If you can't quote it right, I will mock you.

Didn't even register with me. Just because the casing's identical, doesn't mean they all have to do the same thing; I seem to recall Beckett having a specialist medical one.
