No, he just said that a 12 year old is perfectly qualified to do what he does. This is an explicit statement that he analyzes things on the level of a 12 year old. It doesn't matter to me whether he thinks it's not worthwhile to analyze them more thoroughly or whether he is simply incapable of doing so; either way, that's his avowed practice.

FYI one of the mods at EAS locked the thread because they don't want to watch it deginerate any further AND they think its pathetic that people are flaming eachother over the issue. There are some people who would rather the mess go away.

Then again, having DarkStar stir up the pot from time to time doesn't help.

BTW, does anyone else think that people who obsess over swearing are the less mature than people who swear? Having worked as a reporter and in high schools, I can safely say that the average person, by the time their a senior, has heard swearing consistently for at least five years. I kind of feel that people who go "OMG, you swore" are kind of immature in their attitudes.

Actually.....

Yes, I know, cross drilling and what not. But the actual war was Iraq invading. Perhaps I should have used poland and germany from WW2, but I was trying to avoid the "evil facist dictator" subtext.

His doctorate degree shouldn't matter in terms of science if he genuinely doesn't have any technical knowledge. On the other hand, I have met VERY few stupid doctors. I'm not particularly familiar with this individual, and reserve judgement, but generally a person with a doctorate degree is someone to be respected for their knowledge. The paper in and of itself says little.

True, but only in his chosen field. A doctorate of theology, for example, carries no weight whatsoever in a discussion of evolution theory (actually, it might be considered a negative).

It was literally years ago. He basically tried to argue that I'd been unfair to Trek. I challenged him to show me where. He hemmed and hawed and gave me a lot of pseudoscientific or just plain anti-scientific complaints. I challenged him to find me a complaint which bore actual scientific or technical merit. He was unable to do so, since all of his arguments basically rely on pseudoscientific use of technobabble. We stopped talking at that point.

I wrote it off and almost forgot about it, until I found out that this guy has been running around talking trash about me ever since.
