Tyranids VS Star Trek
Now before someone trots out that 40K raping Trek picture let me explain the OP in detail.
During the VOY episode, the intrepid crew of the Starship Voyager encountered the Barzan wormhole in its Delta Quadrant terminous. In there attempts to apprehend two stranded Ferengi who had 'conquered' a primitive planet the Barzan wormhole was destablized and now emerged randomly throughout the universe.
Due to this erratic wormhole a single Tyranid Hive Ship is ripped from its perch above a recently digested world and deposited within a random system of the Delta Quadrant. Within this solar system are two M-class worlds devoid of intelligent life but just teeming with bio-mass. As the Hive ship munches down on this planet and creates copies of itself and more warships, the randomly jumping Barzan wormhole will grab several more ships from this system and deposit them around the Trek galaxy. Within two weeks there will be one hundred Hive ships spread evenly throughout the Trek galaxy and then the wormhole will stop appearing within the Trek Galaxy.
Now due to the normal firepower levels of the Nids, and to be somewhat more cruel to the Trek factions I'm nerfing the Nids firepower levels down to just 1/5th their normal capability. This should be sufficent to allow the Trek galaxy to still get stomped flat but not overwhelming enough to prevent them from seriously hurting the Nids in the process.
Also because a Dark Age means someone has to survive I'm setting up several safe areas that prevent Nid Warp travel. The Badlands is an area with intense plasma storms, due to some interesting radiation which is non-replicable outside this area of space the Badlands is a safe zone which is currently owned by the Maquis and their forces. Several Nebulas within and around Federation space can also be used as hiding grounds if they are similar enough to Mutara Nebulas, since the radiation produced by them will have adverse effects on purely biological starships [IE Tyranid ships]. Though these nebulas will also cause the eventaul system degradation of any ship hiding within there that doesn't posses the correct shielding type.
The Briar patch is also another semi-safe haven since its makeup will require that any Nid ship go to STL to get into there. Though that requirement is the same for Trek ships so its not the greatest hiding area, is it
Now to be even more cruel, I'm dropping off a series of Genestealers throughout the AQ/BQ who's sole task is to destroy the subspace FTL communication relay stations that are spread throughout the area. Without those stations FTL comm traffic will drop like a rock. These Genestealers will not be seen in any areas of authority within the AQ/BQ governments or militaries or anywhere else. There sole apperance is to destroy those stations and keep anyone from repairing them.
The Shadow of the Warp will be in existence and will have its normal canonical effect plus one additional one as well. Anyone who has some psyker type senses, telepaths, will start having haunting and disturbing dreams of the Nids if they come within 100LY's of a sufficently dense enough concentration of Tyranid organisms. So a random Hive ship will not generate any warning but a splinter fleet will cause a telepath to get some distrubing mental images, a full hive fleet like Leviathan will cause a telepath to go apeshit insane.
Now as stated earlier if you read this entire OP, which I know some of you won't, this scenario is not intended to allow galactic civilization to remain intact. How long could the forces of the Trek galaxy stand against the growing might of the Great Devourer as outlined with the OP? What tactics, strategies, weapons, technologies, devices that exist canonically within the Trekverse could be used to decent effect to slow down this ravening horde?

As an aside to anyone who has ideas on winning but forgot about the Borg. Remember this idea. The Borg are a race that would probably attempt to do something about the Tyranids though I'm willing to be the Nids would see the Borg as a delievery service more than anything else. Massive cubes that deliever tens of thousands of drones directly into the waiting maws of the Hive, new biomatter to be consumed!
Plus if the Borg are somewhat smarter, they would be watching the other races as well and if anyone started winning a lot of battles against the Nids the Borg would appear to attempt to snatch up some new recruits and the attending new technologies.
Have at it!

One fifth power level nerfing is completly and utterly insugnifigant to prevent this from being the usual Star Trek vs 40k utter curbstomp and have the entire galaxy eaten by the Nids.

You are wrong. The lower limit of 40k firepower is gigatons/volley. That's a thousand times more than Trek ships generally put out. One fifth will still effortlessly stomp them. These 'nerfed' tyranid ships will still be able to destroy Borg cubes by farting in their general direction.Lord Anubis wrote:This should be sufficent to allow the Trek galaxy to still get stomped flat but not overwhelming enough to prevent them from seriously hurting the Nids in the process.
Never mind that the real threat of the tyranids is their capacity to increase their numbers.

Necron already covered why I'm locking. Enough of these Trek/40K. They are honestly as bad as trying ST/SW and just as boring to go "A Imperial battlecrusier has guns that are within XXXX high MT per gun, there are four to that turrret, and this particular model has 300. You do the math.".
