Welp, having solved my other issue (Apparently a BIOS error a lot of Nvidia users will get eventually), I now face another one.
Having visited a website of suspect nature (I know, I know.), my system decided to hardlock itself and require a manual shutdown. I turned it back on, it boots... Gets in, I bitch at the friend who sent me the link, screen goes black. The monitor light switches to orange, like it does when the system is turned off. I can still hear a couple of things going on, so it's just visual.
So I reboot. Repeatedly. No luck. I remove the card, stick in my backup ATI PieceOCrap, and nab the drivers. Swap back, install, all good.
Then it hardlocks again. Reboot, same problem. Heat shouldn't be the problem, the drivers are good, I haven't finished a virus scan (due to the last hardlock). So what might it be? Should I call it quits and indulge myself by upgrading from the trusty 7900 GS to an 8800 GT? Is there a simple fix?
EDIT: Virus scan showed up clear.

AdAware didn't show anything, either, now that I've done a scan with it.

If you can, try downloading a BartPE or Knoppix CD (probably need to use a different PC) and see if that runs for a while.
Or if you can borrow a hard drive try reinstalling Windows to a new hard drive - see if the problem reoccurs.

Fortunately, I may have fixed the problem (No promises yet, of course). But if not, I do have two spare hard drives I can use for just that.

Time for an update. No, I didn't fix the problem, and I've just spent the last several hours installing windows on that drive (Which was swell, it was being a fucking bitch about it), only to discover that, for some very odd reason, it won't recognize my network hardware. Joyous. I'm going to reinstall if it doesn't just magic-fix, since it did seem to fix it.
Hoping for a magic-fix, obviously.

No magic fix, and a complete cock up of my first ever independent XP install. I now have two copies, one of which doesn't work. But at least my machine is alive again.
EDIT: Help. How the fuck do I kill that extra install?

And to top it all off, trying to run with my 7900GS reveals that it's probably dead anyway! The screen just stays blank. Fucking fuck, I should have just bought a new card.
