70's fighter

Post by Kenny_10_Bellys »

Hi gang, this may be a bit controversial for this forum but I've made something that isn't specifically Star Wars or Trek. It's supposed to look like the sort of thing you'd see on the cover of a Heinlein novel or other sci-fi tome in the mid 70's to early 80's. It's not finished yet, a few minor details to add here and there but it's pretty much done shape-wise. Here it is anyway...

This fourm isn't Trek or Wars specific. You can post damn near anything here that isn't explicit porn.

Very nice. Somewhat reminiscent of Klingon ships, but very original.

Why do those remind me of the XB-70?

Beautious. Did you make those for the SB.com "design a fighter" thread?

Yeah, it's part of their mesh contest, but i wanted to make something like this anyway. I tried to steer it towards something more specific and original than just simple 'make a fighter' and I went all organic/metallic with mine. I want to ry and fake a novel cover if I can get that cloud look right. I think I need a city or something in the distance though, or some larger ship.

The first one is the best, very interesting and attention grabbing.

I agree that the first one looks the best, but I think the second one would be the best if the planet was given some detail.

It wasn't really meant to be anything smart, just sort of putting the thing in an environment rather than a blank background. I like the cloud one, it looks more like a book cover to me, but it needs a lot of work. When I'm not rendering or animating Star Wars stuff I'll give it a better go.

Well, they look more like luxury airplanes than fighters, but I still like'em.

By the way, they remind me of something.
