Rise of the Tau

Post by starfury »

A Fanfiction of the Darkness of the Tau Conquering the Galaxy and in the process becoming more cruel and brutal then the Imperium of man ever was.

I it was the Idea of the Tau Rising and the idea of the Etherals Control being even more sinister in it's entirely was pretty nice, though it pretty much destorys most of the original metaplot of 40k.

I can't load that forum.

Of course, the naieve charm of the Tau is in part that there it literally no chance of them ever getting the takeover they claim is inevitable.

Rise of the Tau

Here is the same story on another forum, needless to say it take the Small Hints of Nercon-Tau connection to a rather Sininster conclusion.

Assuming you wrote this, I've a question: I'm on Part Two. A cairn is running from some uber Tau ship...

Why?

Any necron vessel can simply remove itself from realspace on a whim, there is no requirement for physically propelling itself anywhere to run.

Actually I didn't Write any of this, this Story was posted on the Black Library Discussion Board, I thought it was pretty neat look into a even darker future of the WH40K Universe.

you will Learn later, that whole Eldar verse at the beginning provides alot of clues and helps to tie in the fates of all the major powers, They will mention later of a very strong Tau-Nercon Connection.

While I'm a fan of the Farsight-works-for-the-C'tan idea, I'm not sure just how plausible the Tau becoming this powerful, even with C'tan aid, is.

Seriously? I wonder if the author bothered to consider to consequences to having a whole species of titan crushing psykers. The Tau would be one of their protectorates, not the other way around.
The Excellent Prismatic Spray. For when you absolutely, positively must kill a motherfucker. Accept no substitutions. Contact a magician of the later Aeons for details. Some conditions may apply.

Spoiler:
According to later in the story, the author says that the Tau were made by the Eldar, using the best examples of all the species in the galaxy. Human drive to succeed, tech-engineering like the Jokaero, and a bunch of other stuff. Then they let the Tau loose to become a servant race to fight the C'Tan, so they could take the credit. Surprise, the Tau begin to steamroller everyone, steadily developing technology, etc. The Eldar bug out. The Tau see the problem inherent in the Orcs, and design their own version, that is loyal to them, rather than just fighting for the biggest and the strongest. They also made their changes dominant, so even if both sides lose, the Tau controlled Orc spores will be the first to sprout, and take charge.

They then feed those Orcs into the Tyranid/Orc battle happening on the bottom of the galaxy, and take control of the Tyranids, ordering them to leave the galaxy. Warp suppression drones are steadily fired at the Eye of Terror, slowly closing it. The background may be a bit munch, but I liked the story and the people.

I'm on page 7 or so, and mostly it's "Chaplain Codian tours from one giant metaplot-twisting revelation to being called the prophesized savior of the galaxy." And I don't care, because it's awesome nontheless. His destiny could be totally anticlimatic and I wouldn't care, because all of the concepts and excellent writing alone is enough to carry the story.

What I don't get is how the Imperium becomes an "Alliance" (why are resistance groups called that so often?). I'm not all that familiar with WH40K, but isn't the Imperium more cohesive? Can someone please outline the factions of the story to me through a PM?

I've read all of that, and them making Zombie-Primarchs. The "Tyranids eat grey Orks then become tau-ranids" is even worse wank, although the timescale needed for that, and bioforming every Ork in the Galaxy...

I still don't understand how they had time to get ship building better than that built by a race of gods that have mastery of the physical laws of existence
.

Very well written, and doesn't feel as wanked as it is, but an extra millenium or two would have made things a bit more reasonable.

Impossible. The Eldar do not possess such technology. And for that matter, the Tau aren't nearly as good at making technology as the Jokaero. More to the point, ensuring absolute loyalty from the Tau would be trivial if they did - the Jokaero are practically automatons, compelled to produce armaments. Oh, and human wanking, too - humans have no more drive to succeed than any other race in 40K; their major asset, according to the Deceiver, is racial fear and supersision.
