You think Anakin having a padawan is stupid, Stravo?

Isn't Anakin supposed to be too unstable and immature to have an apprentice pre-ROTS? It's an interesting new take on his character, though.

I sure hope not, she looks like she's thirteen or fourteen years old.

I think the "Anakin's Padawan" storyline will manage and resolve itself fine. RoTS was Lucas' baby and I don't think he would do anything to conflict with the story he set up there.

I think it's silly. It doesn't seem to fit into the character, perceptions and known history of Anakin.

There's also an issue of timing that bugs me - he obvioulsy became a knight between AOTC and ROTS so I'm expected to believe in the three year span between films he earned his knighthood, grabbed a padawan learner and had the maturity to be a teacher and mentor to someone else and then lose them and have no mention of them at all in ROTS?

It smells of something shoehorned in during a writer's meeting like "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if..."

I think the idea that her Master was killed and Anakin "adopted" her might work out fine; my question is just how they're going to fit it in amongst the comic and cartoon storylines. Of course some of them suck so I don't care if they're wiped out.

Of course Anakin briefly having a girl Padawan is a retcon. But he was made a full Jedi Knight between AOTC and ROTS, and IIRC even the Cartoon Network Clone Wars series had a jump in time of a couple years between Seasons 1 and 2. Getting this to fit into continuity won't be the hardest thing to do, especially in comparison to some of the bullshit that's been published lately.

I too look forward to this movie soundly refuting the "3 million" bullshit.

The best way I can think of this going is thus: Yoda sends Ahsoka to Anakin after her former master dies, his purpose is to use her to help curb Anakins brashness (since now he needs to think of her safety as well as his own), with Obi-Wan to monitor and check in on them every now and again.

Seriously. I'm sick of TFN fanboys running around claiming that visuals in the Clone Wars don't matter at all. I wonder if Lucas' direct involvement in these latest things will make them change their tunes.

It will probably be more of an unwilling thing on the council's part, like most of Anakin's life, and not deliberate. Like, Anakin shows up too late to save her master and she latches on to him, and the council just rolls with it.

I thought that was the mind set around here as well, or was it just for the one episode when Mace is a badass?

Did you even watch the video?

She steps out of a transport, Anakin says, 'And who are you supposed to be?' She responds, 'I'm Ahsoka... Master Yoda sent me.' No Jedi Master except Obi-Wan in sight.

Everyone keeps saying we want this 3 million number dealt with. I’m worried they will “fix” it to be like 20 million. Something in the trillions would be nice. (Is there any way we could get in touch with people involved in this project, and remind them that galaxies are big?)

Over 30 episodes made already too? Not bad.

I’m excited though…looks like it will be entertaining, which is the main thing for me.

Most people here don't want the visuals of the Jedi in action from CW to matter. As for things like the Acclamator fleet that attacked Muunilist... Well, I think that should CERTAINLY be given weight.

Frankly, we just need to beat the three million first, I have a feeling this is going to take as long as the Executor's length did.

The Generals interpretation is also how I took the addition of the "apprentice." It seems impromptu more than anything, as Yoda just passed her right along to Anakin. She is obviously already pretty well trained, and described as a balance between Obi-Wan and Anakin. We saw in Dark Rendezvous that the Master/Padawan bond is not always as concrete as it appeared to be between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. If she's used the way the director described her in the trailer, I think it will work fine. I was pretty convinced by his vision, and his commitment to working so closely with Lucas as well.

Plus, more Grievous? Bring 'em out, I say!

Yeah, the most likely angle for the whole apprentice thing is that her master got killed and with the war going on the Council was still trying to figure out what to do with her. Eventually someone decides to apprentice her out to Anakin. With buttloads of power and a head strong attitude, they probably figure that Anakin could do with being forced to shoulder some responsibility. Also, with Obiwan still there, they also probably figured that it wasn't like Anakin could screw up her training too badly as there would be an actual Master there watching over both of them.

Plus, this could be an opportunity to see more depth to Anakin's fall. I can see that if his apprentice gets killed and he feels somehow to blame that it would make him even more paranoid about losing people than we already knew.

Or makes it even a little creepier when he butchers Padawans later on.

Every time Lucas - or anyone else for that matter - does something, involving the Jedi, portraying the Jedi as Big Damn Heroes and the like, that Traviss woman must be shrieking in rage like a scorned and barren lover.

'cant wait for the series, mang.

I'm going to have to go ahead and agree with most of what that Stravo guy said. There's only a three year gap between AOTC and ROTS, and Anakin got his Knighthood status at least one year into the Clone Wars or something if I'm not mistaken. That's an awfully tight timespan to be deemed as experienced enough to take on an apprentice. It definitely feels like a "shoehorned" last minute addition.

The only argument I might buy in favor of this is that the Clone Wars was such an intense period of turmoil and destruction and the Jedi forces were spread so ludicrously thin (which they were to be fair), that stuff like tradition and standard training protocol was cast to the wayside in favor of getting as many fresh reinforcements out there to pitch in on the battlefield as possible, even if that meant assigning apprentices to Jedi that were fresh into their Knighthood status.

And a hearty LOL! at the fanfiction.net slash fiction reference. So funny because it's so true. You KNOW that it's literally only a matter of time before a tidal wave of Ahsoka/Anakin sex fantasy fics start pouring in at a rate of about 80 per hour. I'd be amazed if the site's server didn't crash under the sheer overpowering strength of the mass fangasms that news of this character's existence will all but certainly generate.

And the character's name makes her sound like an African tribal princess or something.

Oh yeah, I'm new here BTW and this is my first post. Hi!

Stravo wrote:You know, when you see shit like GL saying "Forget what you know about the Jedi" and putting his seal of approval on Anakin having a padawan it makes me smile ruefully because for years many of us not happy with the EU have fallen back on saying things like "If GL really knew what was going on he wouldn't approve this shit." or "GL would never write something like this."
All things aside, this strikes me as the literary equivalent of the Myth of a Good Tsar. The Russian peasantry believed in the justice and goodness of the tsar, so they blamed all the shit poured out over them on his ministers thinking that if the only the tsar knew, he'd do something about it.

The reality was of course that the tsars didn't really care, or even if they did, they proved incapable of doing anything about it. Once that became public knowledge, well, we all know what happened to the Romanovs in the end. Although of course it very much remains to be seen if LucasArt will suffer the monetary equivalent of the Bolshevik Revolution :D.

Her name makes her sound like a certain bitch from Evangelion :P

I think the Clone Wars WAS a really hectic three years with Jedi zipping from one warzone to another all over the galaxy. It's like, a perpetual emergency - like working in an emergency room with ten hundred screaming bloody critical patients in need of surgery. Little time to rest and collect their thoughts, fighting everywhere, not only were the Jedi spread thin, they're also fatigued and exhausted.

It's not their ability to kill people by force-constricting their testicular arteries in versus debates that make Jedi so awesome, it's their ability to constantly fight for 3 years and not just drop dead out of exhaustion - while not developing eyebags or wrinkles or stress-related unhealthiness - that makes them so frickin hardcore.

Oh I would agree with that assessment all across the board. 8)

Again, from an in-universe, storyline standpoint, that sort of explanation certainly holds water. But from a real life production standpoint, this character certainly reeks of being a last second "and by the way..." add-on, not to mention a convenient new idol for the hormone crazed fangirl crowd to latch onto and obsess over.

At least it will make them sound hardcore until travissty writes a story about how all the jedi do is sit back on their lazy asses and drink tea while the hardcore mando-clones do all the fighting.
