The Witcher sells 600K units in 3 months

Here's to a sequel!

I'm very happy it's doing well. I want to see Geralt again. Still only up to Chapter III. Back to playing!

I've tried and I just cannot get into that game... Everyone says it's awesome, but I'm just not seeing it.

I want to get special ed, simply because the kit in it looks awesome. More likely when I finally get around to doing a proper upgrade of my box it will be on Steam or some such and I can get it then.

But I'm all for any game that shows that RPGs without bullshit Square-Enix wank can succeed.

Aye I bought the special edition a week or two ago. Got it in Game for £25. I like what little I've played so far. I'll get more in to it after I finish playing my way through Fallout Tactics again.

I didn't even know there was a Special Edition.

It sneaks up on you. It's like watching the first episode of The Office.

I'll give it another go sometime in the near future. The hardest part I was having was with the interface.

Once you get to grips with it, it's really intuitive and works well for everything you need to do...all the commands you need in a fight are nicely mapped together for you.

Clearly, Red Studios only course of action now is to discontinue Witcher.

The Limited edition includes:

* The Witcher
* Double-sided world map poster
* Art book
* Official soundtrack
* Bonus DVD with making-of and interviews

The OST and artbook are most appealing to me, though a poster would not go astray. And unlike most special eds nowadays, this one is only $10 more.

I'd love to actually play The Witcher, but it's PC only and my PC is a little ... well, it was pretty good in 2001.
What is Project Zohar?

I bought the normal game online from the UK and it has been swell. One of the most engaging RPG games I have played since KOTOR. In fact, the game does feel a lot like the way KOTOR was done, just less black and white.

What about the interface gave you trouble? I kinda treated it like Blades of Darkness with knobs on (so I never used the pause bullshit) and I thought the inventory/journal/etc stuff was well organised.

Some stuff... like the damn wolf's head... is just wierd and I don't understand how they work. :)

I was drawn into Witcher right from the start: it starts out pretty generic, but it seemed refreshingly different from 'regular' western adventure-em-ups in play style. It's very much an adventure game and not a Bioware-esque RPG, though: later in particular the game just drops you out and it's up to you to decide what to do and how to do it, with no convienient cutscenes or whatever to help.

I was stuck in second chapter for so fucking long. I suck at puzzles. :(

Alot of it was the camera. Plus when I was playing it I wasn't in the most patient of moods.

The Wolf's head is the Witcher's guild medallion. It is enchanted. It vibrates if there is danger (or in the case of the game, if there is a monster nearby, or if you set it to that, magic although that one is pretty useless). It also supposedly decreases the effects of magic on the wearer, although that's not mentioned in the game.

If anyone is stuck in the second chapter, PM me.

Oh I *know* all that. Except even when set to one of the two sensors, it appears to vibrate at random or not at all: when set to 'monsters', you can be FIGHTING a monster and it's not giving you a reading.

As you say, the magic one is worthless since all the magic stuff I've seen is a convienient glowing blue cloud you can see with your eyes. :)
