Alka-Seltzer tablet and microgravity water
So what happens when you stick a Alka-Seltzer tablet into a drop of water floating in micro gravity. Think about it before you watch the video.
cool
cool

Alot of the experiments they do they just do to see what would happen. And alot of times the experiments have unexpected results which gives some interesting insights.Molyneux wrote:That is pretty darn cool. Any idea why they would perform that experiment, though? Testing the nature of that kind of chemical reaction in micrograv, maybe?

Unlike what they teach you in school about the scientific method, a lot of research is along the lines of "I wonder what happens when I poke that with this stick"Molyneux wrote:That is pretty darn cool. Any idea why they would perform that experiment, though?
Doom dOom doOM DOom doomity DooM doom Dooooom Doom DOOM!
Heh...my favorite kind of research, that.Spin Echo wrote:Unlike what they teach you in school about the scientific method, a lot of research is along the lines of "I wonder what happens when I poke that with this stick"Molyneux wrote:That is pretty darn cool. I have to admit the same; I was expecting it to come apart at some point, but that bubble wasn't interested in coming apart. Crazy stuff, but very cool.wjs7744 wrote:I have to say, I greatly underestimated the strength of the surface tension, I figured it would be much more violent.

If a black-hawk flies over a light show and is not harmed, does that make it immune to lasers?

Actually, almost all physics when you think about it involves some variation of "What happens when we smash this thing into that thing?"
Think about it, all the most advanced physics in the world involve supercolliders and knocking particles around at mind boggling energies. When you really get down to it, physicists are just little boys who have grown up and become really good at math, to the point where they can justify blowing things up for fun.

I love learning. Teach me. I will listen.
You know, if Christian dogma included a ten-foot tall Jesus walking around in battle armor and smashing retarded cultists with a gaint mace, I might just convert - Noble Ire on Jesus smashing Scientologists

Yeah thats why I started doing physics then realized I suck at math despite having a math degree, go figure.Academia Nut wrote:Actually, almost all physics when you think about it involves some variation of "What happens when we smash this thing into that thing?"
