How can I disable Itunes from getting album covers?
Anyone know? I can't find it on the preferences, and it's annoying.
I know what you mean, and I don't have that under my general tab. The only box that's similar is that one I mentioned, and it's unchecked anyway.Stark wrote:It's on the general tab. I described where it is: in Preferences, under the general tab, called blah blah. Just untick it: mine's unticked and I've never had iTunes get artwork.
Are you using the most current version?
That's messed up, I can't find any other options regarding artwork. Do you have one of those plugin/widget things? Some applets use iTunes to search for artwork, maybe you've got one of those somewhere?
Aside from your crazy blue colour, mine is the same. I have auto-update ticked, that's the only difference.

Supes, I searched 10 pages deep with Google and only found other people asking the same question without any answers.
An old tried-and-true method of fixing wonky apps on a Mac is to delete the preferences file(s) and let the app rebuild them on the next load. I don't know if this would work for the PC version, but at this point, it might be worth a try. You will, of course, have to reset/reenter all of your preferences afterwards (which probably includes any eq presets you've saved, etc.).
The two places that I know of where iTunes stores preferences are:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml
C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml
EDIT: Another thing to try is to untick the "Automatically retrieve track names from the Internet" box in Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing. Probably won't fix your problem, but worth a try as well.
