I personally think it's sexist that the Hildebeast and her supporters think/claim/scream that because I have matching sex organs, I am obligated to vote for her. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a girl.

Well, if you have a stick up your arse and actively go looking for every least little thing, then Obama's speech can be interpreted as being sexist according to the following logic:
- "claws come out" = trying to claw opponents eyes out as per stereotypical hysterical harridan. Alternatively, reference to a catfight, especially when used by men as a derogatory term.
- "periodically when she's feeling down" = reference to PMS and periods and implying that she is depressed because of such and/or because she's a woman. Never mind about the obvious facts of biology like her age.
- "trying to boost her appeal." = an obvious reference from Obama that Hillary is trying to use her feminine wiles and is somehow lacking character appeal and sex appeal and that she is somehow desperately trying to boost them and that all of that is insidious lies designed to make her look bad.

This is why I hate Hildabeast apologists; everyone everywhere but the U.S. cannot see what we're really getting in the swap from Bush to Clinton. And there is a reason for that.

If you never talk about Hilary Clinton's 'wiles' or ability/inclination to use them, I will be a very happy fellow.Edi wrote:

Quit bellyaching. You only had to read it. I had to think it up, formulate it, type it out and then hit submit. How do you think I feel about that? *shudder*CaptainChewbacca wrote:If you never talk about Hilary Clinton's 'wiles' or ability/inclination to use them, I will be a very happy fellow.Edi wrote:

Wow, when someone says "periodically" he's automatically talking about menstruation? I knew math was sexist, but I didn't realize that something as basic as trigonometry and the sine and cosine functions were so blatantly anti-woman.Edi wrote:

A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.
F. Douglass
That's the only logical explanation how they can get so worked up about that language. Don't ask me how they form that thought process, though. Merely trying to simulate causes an acute danger of brain hemorrhage and skull fractures through which the smarts drain out and the stupid flows in.Surlethe wrote:Wow, when someone says "periodically" he's automatically talking about menstruation? The whole sexist bit cute considering Hillary's shill in Pennsylvania is trying to play the race card.
Linky
In other words, white cracker bigots wouldn't vote for HRC either.

Randi Rhodes had a good reply to this on her show today, namely that the people who won't vote for Barack Obama because of race wouldn't be voting for any Democrat.Gov. Ed "Don't Call Me 'Fast Eddie' " Rendell met with the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette last week to talk about his latest budget. But before turning the meeting over to his number-crunchers, our voluble governor weighed in on the primary fight between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama and what the Illinois senator could expect from the good people of Pennsylvania at the polls:
"You've got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate," he said bluntly. Our eyes only met briefly, perhaps because the governor wanted to spare the only black guy in the room from feeling self-conscious for backing an obvious loser. "I believe, looking at the returns in my election, that had Lynn Swann [2006 Republican gubernatorial candidate] been the identical candidate that he was --well-spoken [note: Mr. Rendell did not call the brother "articulate"], charismatic, good-looking -- but white instead of black, instead of winning by 22 points, I would have won by 17 or so."
I know I have a habit of sometimes zoning out in these meetings, but it sounded to me like Mr. Rendell had unilaterally declared Pennsylvania to be Alabama circa 1963. Was he suggesting that Pennsylvanians are uniquely racist in ways that folks in the states Mr. Obama has won so far aren't? By the way, Mr. Obama won Alabama on Super Tuesday, thank you very much!
What accounts for Mr. Rendell's overweening confidence that, no matter what, he'll always find a way to overcome the odds by at least 17 points even in a racist commonwealth, but that Mr. Obama can't?
If Mr. Rendell, a Clinton backer, is right about Pennsylvania's racial attitudes, maybe we should get a new state slogan. How about: "You've got a friend with a pointy white hood in Pennsylvania"?
In other words, white cracker bigots wouldn't vote for HRC either.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

Do some of the feminists on feministing fit that description? I can't decide if it's people seeing sexism in everything, or just reading too much into something that's innocuous.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Actually, given some feminists I've known, that wouldn't surprise me if it did offend them. Is the use of a female-oriented term automatically sexist now? Perhaps Obama is also sexist because he uses other female-specific terms, like "she" and "her" when describing Billary.

Seems like the comments on that article are pretty evenly split, at least the first few.
I admit I don't know why the choice of words was "when she's feeling down" instead of "when she's behind in the polls", but "periodically" is just another word for regularly and I don't see anything there.

Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things... their number is negligible and they are stupid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

So any use of a word that contains "period" is sexist? I had no idea that chemistry was such a sexist field of study.

I mean, compare this is Bush would have tried the same thing "I understand that Hillary feels down... uh... cause she bleeds from her cooter. Heh heh heh."
"Hillary Clinton has a tendency to ... act out of emotion. You see ... some people have a tendency to lose control of their emotions, and this ... this is a problem that women, I mean- Hillary and her supporters are, er... vulnerable to. Umm ... we need strength in the war on Terror, and you can't get that kind of strength by reacting ... heh heh ... emotionally ... to everything that happens."
That - was perfect. I'm my mind's eye I was watching this press conference.

yes if you must know, my aunt, two great aunts, a few cousins, and all my science teachers for three years but since you were trying to be sarcastic maybe I should have just kept that to myself.
oh and the whole sexist thing, yeah... about that
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
are they insane? how is commenting on someone stiking out when "feeling down" sexist, I do it all the time, as it was said so many years ago by Bill Watterson "nothing helps a bad mood like spreading it around" and the claws comment? yes I know a few feminists who would find that offensive, but you know what? I honestly couldn't care less. alot of femminists today struggle and fight so that they are seen as just another man, and then when no one ever dates them they bitch us out and demand to know why. guys can't win against femminists, so I have declared my intentions to stop trying and just ignore them. I would like a woman president, but if the;r name is Clinton, Bush, or spears they can go jump of a cliff because I'd rather vote a chimpanzee into office.

Which is pretty nasty considering that the Black vote in places like Philadelphia probably had a big push for getting that tubby asshole Rendell in office in the first place. Nice to see he's left his city behind.Glocksman wrote:The whole sexist bit cute considering Hillary's shill in Pennsylvania is trying to play the race card.

I'm wouldn't be so sure about that. PA may be a different story because it's fairly white & conservative down the middle of the state and Black & Democrat on the ends, but we've already seen in places like California where large groups of non-Black minority voters are turning towards HRC -- I seem to recall it being discussed in one of the threads around Super Tuesday that there is some serious widespread racial animosity between Latinos and Blacks, and Asians and Blacks, and that this be affecting the vote. And in this thread I've been seeing a lot of racist bullshit from gay folks in my community against Obama, and they're all voting for Hillary.Glocksman wrote:Randi Rhodes had a good reply to this on her show today, namely that the people who won't vote for Barack Obama because of race wouldn't be voting for any Democrat.
