I was wondering about post-peak travel infrastructure where cars of this size would be ideal; large electric-diesel trains wide enough to accommodate smaller, lighter vehicles could be built that run from city to city (or in the case of very large cities, merely expanding the existing public rail transit would suffice) which could be driven onto and parked on these large trains. The trains would do the bulk of the traveling, whether that be from the end of one city to the other to get to work or leaving town altogether, and then you'd carry on the rest of the way in your small air/electric car.

That's a pretty good idea. I wonder if you could adapt the braking mechanism of the train, so that some of the energy could be used to compress air and refuel the air cars on the train?
