That explains why she was so interested in finding an anomaly chain into the future.Admiral Valdemar wrote:I can only wonder how fucked up it will be if Helen can find people at will and bring them back from any time period. She could have her own clone army with that strategy.
While it is posible to build an army with temporal duplication, you need to move the entire thing though the anomaly chain in one go. Otherwise you risk rewriting time and accidentally destroying all your work.

It's only annoying if you're retarded and assume he's right. Most of what Cutter says sounds like complete bullshit to me.Big Orange wrote:Oh dear, we've got temporal clones of that spud faced merc, and it seemed mildly annoying how much Cutter was overwanking the Future Predators as destroyers of humanity (raptor-like creatures on steroids would not be good news, but just play loud music ).
Or even shot some animals! Less dramatic that way, and this WAS pussy-ass retard Steven after all.A nice end to Leek though. I just wonder why Stephen didn't shoot himself. That is not a way I'd like to go.
It's refreshing to see someone go 'no, he's totally right, his life isn't worth the public safety, kill him all you want'.
It seems far more likely that those guys are simply actual clones from the future rather than a paradox army. At least Helen finally has a change of fucking clothes, the dirty bitch. She wasn't interested in getting an 'alternate Steven' after all, but simply changing history so he isn't dead.

In this episode, yes, he was being hyperbolic because he really didn't like the prospect of having a future predator army going through town. Otherwise, I can't really see where he's been anything other than a little more antsy about things than everyone else, who always seem to be gung-ho.Stark wrote:

Nah, it'd be hopeless given he had a Beretta 92F with barely any ammo. I'd just have shot myself. I don't favour the heroic-moving-feast death.Or even shot some animals! Less dramatic that way, and this WAS pussy-ass retard Steven after all.
Lester is a no shit guy. I like that, especially in a civil servant. It's refreshing to see someone go 'no, he's totally right, his life isn't worth the public safety, kill him all you want'.
I was kind've expecting her to get Steve back, but I guess you're right, she was in it purely to use him for power to go and create her own super army of cloned mercs. And her new clothing distracted me, what with her bust being godly in its ability to try and poke out.It seems far more likely that those guys are simply actual clones from the future rather than a paradox army. We'll have to wait until next year to see what she plans to do with these guys, since I expect Leek was just someone to use in order to gain more resources for whatever plan she has.
At least we can hope the timeline she creates with a living Steven has a happening, cool Steven and not a milksop retard like the s2 one.
If the writers had shown the ability to find a tone and stick to it, I'd hope that s3 would be a clear series of temporal war stories. Lester isn't dismissive anymore, Cutter knows what Helen is up to, etc. I seriously doubt this will be the case, however. At very least they could do some stories in the future where Helen has her resource base. It seems unlikely that they'll even try to kill her or lock down or map the anomaly network given Cutter's insane ramblings about changing the past.
Call me crazy, but the premise lends itself towards all kinds of interesting ideas, like Helen completing her mad experiment but being unable to change it back, Cutter's further descent into paranoid madness, Connor's continued journey into Iron Jawed Action Hero Land, etc.

First of all; FUCK, I missed last week, can someone clue me in please?
Second, yes, he was right, Cutter was forming his opinion on 0% fact

Fuck him, it's all assumption from what Helens done. Helen can go back and erase whats-her-name from the Home Office (and after what was going on in the cell and how Cutter manipulated her, you'd have to be a fool to think that she wouldn't want to and try to kill off the Season1 bird) and then also go back and Create an Army of asshole-mercs, the anomalies seem to have a lot less effect than I thought atleast.Stark wrote:It's refreshing to see someone go 'no, he's totally right, his life isn't worth the public safety, kill him all you want'.

Personally I got the feeling the Future Predator wank was designed to be taken seriously (Cutter does talk shit, but I think that's the writers fucking up more than anything). I found it a touch irritating, too.
It was a fairly underwhelming finale, I found. I quite liked the season, but didn't feel they improved tremendously over the first. I'm interested where they take things from here though. ITV's "design a monster" competition does leave me worried we'll see a Peter Kay absorbaloff come in from the future, mind...

Hey, I love "Love & Monsters" (even though Peter Kay was more effective in human form).
I'm not so sure about this season of Primeval either, even though it was undeniably solid and there was no genuine decline in quality. In this season I felt that the central team were a little too independent of the ARC organization, ignoring most of the big equipment and armed back up that was available to them almost all of the time. Also Connor was too easily manipulated by an obvious sociopath like Helen (who obviously has much tighter control over the anomolies than showed).

This is certainly 100% the case. Thankfully we can ignore it and just treat him as a bombastic kinda guy who's heavily into hyperbole, instead of imagining a dozen-odd giant bats are really a threat to the whole world. I mean, killing Helen is FAR more important than killing a few bats and tigers. She can kill EVERYONE.Lord Woodlouse wrote:Personally I got the feeling the Future Predator wank was designed to be taken seriously (Cutter does talk shit, but I think that's the writers fucking up more than anything). The season had problems, but aside from the extraordinarily weak writing in the middle episodes (ps, making Connor an action hero then having the other writers write him as usual is not cool) it's just the uneven tone that has plagued Primeval since day one. Not taking itself to seriously is fine, but sometimes it undermines the drama and characters (like laughing off Cutter's paranoid near-murder of Silly Bitch) for the sake of childish 'humour' or twee 'romance'. It has the setup for a really strong bit of drama, but I'm not sure if they're even interested in going in that directoin.

Why should the Anomolies just be random rips of time? What if there is sombody (or something) behind, and they're represented by Helen? Consider how she seems to find her way around the Anomolies far too easily than just waiting around for them, even manipulating them (thrawted ambition to use them to rewrite history, duplicating that spud faced henchman). The hyperbole surrounding the Furture Predators borders on silly, a worse far future creature is a one that has evolved intelligence and tool using comparable to humans.

Precisely, the main story arc surrounding Primeval has not progressed a great deal except with the messed up timeline and bigger HQ. The Anomolies have actually been played down this season, with no return to "Spagetti Junction", and only slightly less vague hints of how Helen is using the Anomolies. And while fewer episodes can result in more consistent writing and comfortably compressed story arcs, I actually think there are not enough episodes for Primeval and that impedes it's potentially bigger ambitions.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Welcome to 2007, BO. We figured that out last season.
