The Kingdom of Weir
"Lex, Sapientia, Lux"

UN Category: New York Times Democracy
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Good
Political Freedoms: Excessive

Location: SDnet

The Kingdom of Weir is a large, devout nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 20 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Law & Order, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 21%. A healthy private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Beef-Based Agriculture.

A nation-wide cull of brown bears is in effect, the police force is on a recruitment drive, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, and marijuana is legal in the privacy of your own home. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Weir's national animal is the brown bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

The Issue:
People Request Not So Much Dictatorship, If That's All Right
Government Acts
The Issue

While effusively praising Vasey's leadership and bowing repeatedly, a delegation has humbly requested that the government take a more "modernistic" view in the future.
My response:
The High Minister for Finance, who also happens to be your brother, dismisses the claim. "What these people fail to realize is that you know what's best for them. The alternative is anarchy! I say stick to your course. And execute these wackos for treason."

The Confederacy of Rals and Talora

"Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis."

UN Category: Capitalizt
Civil Rights: World Benchmark
Economy: Thriving
Political Freedoms: Very Good

Location: Arolos

The Confederacy of Rals and Talora is a large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 32 million enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Defence, and Law & Order. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Woodchip Exports, and Gambling industries.

The alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, military spending is on the increase, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, and all recreational drugs are legal. Crime is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Rals and Talora's national animal is the double-headed condor, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Rialas.

The Issue
Workers across the nation have gone out on indefinite strike over what they claim are substandard wages in the Retail industry.

The Debate
"We are the backbone of this country, and we demand a fair wage rise!" says union leader Faith Barry. "I don't think a 20% increase over two years is too much to ask. Unless the government forces employers to give us our due, we'll shut this whole industry down! Let's see how well ArmorPierce's economy manages without any Retail, huh?
[Accept]

"We pay our employees very generous wages," says employer representative Prudence Licorish. "Especially when you consider that without us, they'd be OUT ON THE STREET. Hear that, you scumbags? OUT ON THE STREET! Anyway, my point is, if you cave in, you make our entire industry uncompetitive. You can't do that in the global marketplace. It'll hurt the whole country. The best solution, economically speaking, would be to relax industrial laws and allow us to fire troublemakers on the spot."
[Accept]

What to do? I was thinking about dismissing the issue cause I don't want to hurt my economy and I don't want my Country to be anymore socially welfarily than it already is.

For the UN members:

I have proposed a resolution to stop the UN from interfering in purely internal matters. If this resolution passes the delegates, I ask your full support to maintain national sovreignty.

The Issue
Hospitals have requested that they be allowed to pay people for donating blood and other bodily organs, such as kidneys.

The Debate
"We remain critically short of blood plasma and various organs," says ArmorPierce One hospital administrator Dave Chicago. "Especially hearts. A good heart is hard to find. But if we were allowed to pay for donations, we'd get more of them and could save more lives. Plus the donor takes home a few hundred aps in compensation. Unless it's a post-mortem donation, of course. In that case we'd pay the family."
[Accept]

"Great idea," says social commentator Dave Hamilton. "Except for one thing. You know who's going to be selling their organs? Poor people! They'll be so desperate for money that they'll sell their own kidneys. Well, a kidney. This is just another way for the rich to buy themselves a better life at the expense of the poor. It must be outlawed."
[Accept]

I see no reason why not to, any reason I shouldn't? And this time, answer me the same day, I can't change my decision the day after I made the decision

Okay then, I need advice on this
The Issue
A recent poll has revealed high levels of dissatisfaction among the populace about tax rates.

The Debate
"Do you know how much of my year's work goes to the government?" demanded angry worker Thomas Winters. "Too much! Government spending has gotten way out of control. It needs big cuts in welfare, health, and education. But leave those subsidies to business alone. We need them to create jobs."
[Accept]

"It's not the AMOUNT of tax, it's where the burden falls," says student activist Colin Dredd. "And at the moment, far too much of the burden is falling on the poor. People on high incomes still have more money than people on low incomes. I don't think I need to say anything more than that."
[Accept]

"I don't object to the amount of tax, I object to where it's being spent," says social reformer Dave Dredd. "I'd like to see everyone have a choice as to where their tax dollars go every time they fill out a return. Everyone would feel a lot better about opening their wallets if they had a say as to where the money went. I think you'd see a lot more public money going to education and a lot less to business."
[Accept]

I've already done this before and I think last time I made it so that the rich were taxed more but I don't remember if it hindered my economy. Now somone, which one for a better economy?

Here's my latest issue, guess which option I chose. Those religious shits can go fuck themselves. Option 3 baby!

The Issue

It's time for the government to hire a new religious advisor. Your people have narrowed down the candidates to:

The Debate

Catholic Archbishop Al Chicago: boasts an excellent track record, having rapidly increased church attendances in his constituencies through the "Reaching God Through Guilt" program. Seen as a solid choice.
[Accept]

New Age thinker Colin Spirit: a left-field candidate with some radical ideas. "For me, it's not about the name of your religion. It's about discovering your spirituality in whatever guise that takes. Some people call that a cult: I call it taking spirituality to the people."
[Accept]

Finally, there's Buy Mistletoe. "If I am awarded the appointment, I will immediately resign," the ex-schoolteacher has declared. "Because, frankly, God is a big load of hokey. I'll be doing everyone a favor by just shutting up about it."
[Accept]
Image
aerius: I'll vote for you if you sleep with me. :)
Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

AP, what's your tax rate at? If it's too high, cut taxes. People spend more when they have more.

I've managed to claw my way back to where I started ...

UNC: Capitalist Paradise
CR: Very Good
E: Very Good
PF: Very Good

The Empire of New Serenity is a small, economically powerful nation, notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 16 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 18%. A large private sector is led by the Soda Sales industry, followed by Basket Weaving and Pizza Delivery.

A large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, the police force is on a recruitment drive, and corporations donate huge sums of money to favored politicians. Crime is a problem. New Serenity's national animal is the hawk, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the kilo sterling.

for all you guys pissed off at the lack of a military option try www.nukezone.nu

Its similar to nationstates except no politics and all military. You get $250,000 and 48 hours of protection to build an army. After the 48 hours you can loot/pillage/attack/invade and destroy from a wide selection of other countries, which are actually other nations believe it or not ya?
