So, do I win any points?

Of course they don't. They just saw you posting something that gave ST a chance and assumed you were insaneEleas wrote:Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Nope.Eleas wrote: Clearly, the Federation ship wins this one. Question: Does a Neb carry any main characters for a sustained period in any of the series? A Constellation and a Constitution carried Kirk, a Galaxy and a Sovereign carried Picard, an Intrepid carried Janeway, and a Defiant carried Sisko. But what about the Nebula?Eleas wrote:Clearly, the Federation ship wins this one. For plot purposes, it is the superior vessel. The Nebula class starship USS Farragut held a good portion of the crew of the E-D, as shown in the ending scene of Star Trek: Generations. Miles O'Brien also persuaded Bejamin Maxwell to stop destroying Cardassian ships in TNG episode "The Wounded." Ambassidor Sarek was transported back to Vulcan on bard the USS Mirramack, a Nebula calss ship in Sarek an The Game[TNG] . Data also commanded the USS SUtherland during the blockade of the romulan ships in "Redeption, Part II"[TNG].Question: Does a Neb carry any main characters for a sustained period in any of the series? So.... yes
Re: Battle of the Nebulas
Indeed. The reason, of course, was the simple fact that I'm sick of it. I'm sick of having people from my own side go ballistic at the mere thought of Trek being anything other than the Imperials' doormat. Now these calculations I have defended over the years. I've done it on Spacebattles, on ASVS, here, and on uncountable other forums. And I don't pretend to be especially qualified, but the simple fact is that I have performed actual work over the years.Connor MacLeod wrote:Of course they don't. Nowadays, newbies get everything served to them. And so, many of them cut and paste without actually understanding, and yet those same people are full of sound and fury that anyone would dare challenge "their" calcs.
To my mind, they're living the easy life because other people have performed the actual work. In the olden days, they wouldn't have lasted five minutes.
I'm not attacking anyone in this thread; I merely point out symptoms that have been evident to me for a long time.

I like it...it's actually funny and literally is what I see used in some oddball debates.Eleas wrote: Clearly, the Federation ship wins this one. For plot purposes, it is the superior vessel. It's not what I would use...but it's funny.

Thanks. I almost forgot that reason, but yes, a chunk of my motivation came from wanting to poke fun.Ghost Rider wrote: I like it...it's actually funny and literally is what I see used in some oddball debates.
