Opera 7.0 b2

Post by Robert Treder »

I just got this. Looks good so far, except...that window asking how you want to start up (no pages, home page, last page viewed) pops up every time you start the program. When you click "don't show this again," it tells you that you must buy Opera in order to not have this pop up.

That's total bullshit. They deliberately inconvenience me in order to get my money? To paraphrase Darth Wong, they can suck my cock, because that's as close as they'll get to my wallet.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

When you get one of those sites that starts popping up endless numbers of windows after you close the previous window, and when you close those, more pop up, you will appreciate the differences between IE and Opera.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

A simple program fixs that, so its not built in... Eh, MS will get on the anit-pop up band-wagon sooner or later(Remeber their great talent is taking other people's ideas coping them and then improving on them)

I complain about crappy free software, yeah. But it's not too big a deal; this is still a beta version, and I can still use 6.05.
And no, I will not "fuck Opera," thank you very much. Opera kicks ass. Runs much faster than IE, and it doesn't give me any of IE's stupid errors. Some people complain that it doesn't load some windows-only pages properly, but for me, if somebody doesn't want me looking at their shitty page, that's their problem and not mine.

Uhm, my Sourcebook pages are IE only, I think. Opera always has
problems with the
code....but I can't be arsed to type in
after each line in my sourcebooks....screw that, a simple
at
the end of each paragraph is good enough...

Opera runs your pages just fine, Shep. Of course, I already have a lot of those books, but it's good to have them on the net, too.

Opera is ten times more feature-packed than mozilla, and they're useful features to boot. As to the startup crap...

No need to cough with me, my Baltic friend. I'm an unabashed software ninja (because pirates are evil). I'll look into that.

Last I looked Mozilla had far, far better standards support and that is what counts in a web browser as far as I'm concerned.

No, it's not that, I just had this weird lump in my throat... :D

Simplest way is to head to www.cracks.st (popup blocker on).

I don't know, the standards support has improved a lot since opera 6, and when it comes to pure speed of browsing, Opera is completely unbeatable. Back/forward is pretty much instantaneous.

Bottom line being, the standards support is more than good enough for all my browsing needs, and the speed, features, incredibly good UI, and non-memory hog nature of Opera make it my browser of choice.
