Seeking a second Army to make Two.
Seeing as how it's coming out and will likely be not nearly as good if played in a mode other than co-op, I'm wanting to know who in Australia is intending to pick up Army of Two on launch (for 360) and would also be seeking someone to play with.

I've got it pre-ordered so I should be able to pick it up the day it comes out.weemadando wrote:I'm wanting to know who in Australia is intending to pick up Army of Two on launch (for 360) and would also be seeking someone to play with.
On the 13th, next Thursday. When does this come out?

I know this is off-topic, but the question has stuck in my mind for a while now.Stark wrote:I could rent it from EB I guess. It seems likely to be a pile of rubbish, however.
Is there anything you don't hate? A few days ago you mentioned despising both halo and crysis, despite both being perfectly fun games to play (with crysis being so damn beautiful to boot.) and this army of two game seems to be getting rather good previews, so what makes you think it's going to be a "pile of rubbish?"
Oh. I see here that its made by EA. That explains it, never mind.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

I think Stark's hit something big, actually. If you always think every upcoming thing will be crap, then you'll never be disappointed.

The coop-specific stuff is interesting, but everything I've seen about the actual game is juvenile nonsense. I wasn't a huge fan of Vegas, and given the developer this is likely to be Gears of Vegas with Chrome and Silly Masks. Oh and hilarious jingoism and attempts at relevance.Erik von Nein wrote:How come? It seemed like an interesting enough concept for a game to be worth playing.
Multi covers many sins, however, so if Ando wants to bash out the coop it'd be worth an EB-rent. Then I can return it for Battalion Wars 2!
Oh shit, wait, did I just suggest I wanted to play Battalion Wars 2? Fuck, let's hope all the dickless nerds ignore that so they can continue their ignorant 'Stark hates everything' garbage.

No real reviews yet, afaik.
Impressions thread
That's pretty funny: worthless reviews and someone saying 'thank christ they fixed it in the extra time'. Most sources doing previews have said the same thing: since the date got pushed from late last year, the game has become significantly less terrible.
America gets it only a day before AU, so I doubt we'll get to see any serious reviews before launch.

Oooh, yeah. I see what you're saying. I was kind of hoping that nonsense was done in a very tongue-in-cheek kind of way instead of attempting anything serious. Ah, well. I wasn't going to buy it, anyhow.Stark wrote:The coop-specific stuff is interesting, but everything I've seen about the actual game is juvenile nonsense. Most of the previews are settling around Big Dumb Fun.Stark wrote:I could rent it from EB I guess. It seems likely to be a pile of rubbish, however.
Though I can't help but feel that the imminent release of Vegas 2 is going to shaft Ao2. (I'm certainly waiting for Vegas 2, and may pick up Ao2 when it's cheaper)
Vegas 2 is that soon? Hmmm. Now I'm considering paying the 100% markup to get some XBL Gold time.Vendetta wrote:Most of the previews are settling around Big Dumb Fun.

Not that more Rainbow 6 or Ghost recon is a bad thing, but sometimes I worry that Ubisoft will follow the EA road and keep making endless sequels that get increasingly mediocre.
No series should ever be subjected to the slow, lingering death of my beloved medal of honor.

Seeing how the only MoH game that wasn't crap was Allied Assault, I'm not sure it can really be described as a slow death so much as it was a fiery corkscrew straight to hell.Darksider wrote:Not that more Rainbow 6 or Ghost recon is a bad thing, but sometimes I worry that Ubisoft will follow the EA road and keep making endless sequels that get increasingly mediocre.

I'm massively keen for Vegas 2 seeing as they are doing PEC in SP, co-op and everything else, so the fact that I don't play DM the whole fucking time doesn't leave me stuck with shit.
Which is why I want to try and get through Army of Two over a few scheduled sessions before Vegas 2 drops.
So - Stark, if you're up, that's awesome.
Jordie - similarly - awesome.
The drop in/drop out co-op and different combo/bonus things for different players and weapon variants mean that having a range of people in AU who we can cycle through means that it could be cool to be able to do it that way.

There is apparently some co-op terrorist hunt kind of thing.
Most entertaining is the "Gladiators" (the gameshow) type mode where two teams (of two) have to race through a "course" in an effort to win. Apparently it's stuff like "get to point A and kill the VIP there", "get to point B and blow up the thingy". The teams get points for each objective they achieve and I'd assume for overall time to boot in an effort to prevent the game just bogging down at the first objective with a fire-fight.
That mode alone was almost enough to sell me on it.
*edit* apparently that mode will be released as DLC later.

You know, i've been trying to get into Ao2, but everything i've seen about it indicates it's yet another shooter. It's unique in that's it's a shooter built around co-op gameplay more than anything else, but hey, the Club was a game that tried to sell itself on a single gimmick too.
Stark, I wasn't a big fan of Vegas myself. The multiplayer was ok, but I did not appreciate the overall handling of the series post PC. It was fun, but it wore off quickly.
The last Vegas could be called "Gears of Vegas" but they've been bragging about V2's bullet penetration system now, so I think the real name for Vegas 2 should obviously be "Call of Vegas" or some such.

Stark liked World in Conflict, Gears of War, and Sins of a Solar Empire to name a few. 3 games which have recieved glowing reviews from every facet of the gaming industry. He even liked STALKER for all its quirks. So frankly, I don't understand exactly how the "Stark hates everything" rep continues to thrive. But this is off topic.Darksider wrote:Is there anything you don't hate?

Probably because he's very vocal about when he doesn't like something, and doesn't pull any punches just because he likes the game it's attached to.CaptHawkeye wrote:Stark liked World in Conflict, Gears of War, and Sins of a Solar Empire to name a few. 3 games which have recieved glowing reviews from every facet of the gaming industry. Because secretly I proliferate Stark's reputation of needless hate through a regime of subliminal messages in the Google ads and water with fluoride in it.CaptHawkeye wrote:So frankly, I don't understand exactly how the "Stark hates everything" rep continues to thrive.
In any case, I may just give Army of Two a try, because I need another good co=op game for my Friday sessions with a friend and his cinema. Also, the fact these guys wear silly masks is a plus in my mind.
