Wait, what? I thought the Meltrandi (or whatever they're called) were restricted only to the non-canon Do You Remember Love? movie. Do they actually occur in the mainstream Macross continuity?

And to answer Spanky's question, there were always giant women in Macross. It just took them until DYRL where they actually sorta had a language to give them a name. It's really just Meltran for all of the women. Zentran is male while Zentradi is all of them. Sorta like man, woman, and mankind.

Now that I think about it, Meltrandy is used in the awful dub of DYRL.

Okay, I see. I was assuming the Meltrandi more like a separate force/organization from the Zentradi , as I understand they are in DYRL, like how the Supervision Army was separate from the Zentradi in the original series.

Or something. I've never seen DYRL.

Queadluun Rau Lambda

Klan Klan's machine. I gotta say the manga seems pretty goofy at times. Alto's rigorous training for SMS includes shooting, running, and making his Battroid do push ups.

I didn't say I don't like the Queadluun Rau, I was saying that Battroid push ups is a little silly.

There's always been an edge of silly in Macross though. Even going back to the first episode, where the colour scheme on the VF-1 display team would, if they were transformed, look like a sailor fuku.

I also need to see M7 and Flashback 2012.

M+ I want to see but I'll be damned if I give any money to Manga Entertainment anytime soon...

DYRL looks so much better now that the HD remastered DVD is out.

I <3 Hikaru

The only part of Macross 2012 you need to see is the ending video where Minmay sings Angel Paints. The rest of it is just footage from the show arranged in a 30 minute music video.

The new HD remastered DVDs for Plus take Manga's shitty VHS dumps to school!

Reminds me of one of the M7 special episodes where Basara was on a planet with a kid and a full sized Meltran and the kid was practically getting lost in her underwear drawer.

When I bought M+ on VHS ten years ago I must have watched them until the tapes broke. I need to get them on DVD.

Here's some new information gleaned from the official site regarding the VF-25.

- The VF-25 is currently undergoing performance evaluations done by S.M.S..
- Combat performance is equivalent to the VF-19 and VF-22 series.
- The VF-25 transformation system allows for a smoother and quicker transition from Fighter->GERWALK->Battroid than in previous generations.
- The VF-25 is very customizable according to mission-specifics and pilot preference.
- The Full-Armor system improves armaments. The Super-packs improves maneuvering performance.
- (Already mentioned) The VF-1 Full-Armor system was restricted to Battroid use but the VF-25's does not carry this restriction.
- Currently, the VF-25's Full-Armor system is limited to S.M.S. squadron leader-use.

Also they are holding a naming contest for the VF-25. They listed a couple of known names like the VF-1 Valkyrie, VF-4 Lightning, VF-11 Thunderbolt, VF-17 Nightmare, VF-19 Excalibur, and oddly enough VF-0 Phoenix. I thought the Phoenix name for the VF-0 was dropped in favor of just calling it Zero.

Man, now that just makes zero sense. How many years after Project Supernova, and Shinsei is doing performance evals for the VF-25...which only just matches the VF-19/22???

Also in the website, the profile for the 25 says that it's going to be the successor to the VF-171 for NUNS. The 171 is noted to be a direct development from the 17. So what in the name of all that's holy happened to the 19 and the 22?

Either the 25 is insanely cheaper than the 19/22, or there's something else I'm missing. Aww and I actually liked the VF-19's design.
I know there is a method, but all I see is the madness.

Honestly, it can't have better performance than the 19 and the 22 (21), because both of those planes had enough performance that they could crush their pilots to death. There's just a limitation on how much more agile and quick they can make a variable fighter, simply because their squishy pilots can't take it. So really, when it comes down to it we can only really expect superior avionics, stealth capabilities, improved transformation systems, better on the fly customisability and so on.

YF-21 had a limiter, shove one into the 19, set it to something where normal pilots won't turn into raspberry jam, and Bob's your uncle. Also it was the YF-19 that was killing the test pilots, the YF-21 was doing fine IIRC. Also by the end of Mac7, the VF-19 and VF-22s were already being put into limited production...

Also interesting to note that the Misa character (Casey Glass) is the daughter of the President of Frontier. Also, Ozma used to belong to NUNS before transferring to SMS. That website's full of interesting tidbits, thanks for the heads up VF5SS

The 19 did have a limiter, because even though Isamu heals quickly, he couldn't possibly survive the sorts of gees being pulled during the Ghost-21 dogfight. The problem with the 19 was that it required a really good pilot to not crash - even Isamu cushed half a dozen times in the simulator in one day, even if he was good enough to learn its nature. It was just too hard to pilot.

Given the information from the official site, faster transformation and wider mission role adaptability is what they're really gaining.

Also, the 19 and 21 didn't have FAST packs or armour packs.
