I have been reading Stephen Jay Gould again. He writes about fossil fakes other than Piltdown Man. I also have ready that there is a recent fossil fake out of China which even fooled National Geographic.
I do not support Creationism in an way but I am surprised they haven't picked up on this in a more organized manner. Could they not argue that the transitional fossils we have are fakes in one manner or another.
Basically, how do we know that a small percentage of the fossils we use but are important are fakes? It is something which bothers me for some reason.

Fossil Fakes
"He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself."
Thomas Paine
"For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten."
Ecclesiastes 9:5 (KJV)

Re: Fossil Fakes
No. For the hundreds and even thousands of fossils we have discovered to all be fakes, that would require a vast, enormous conspiracy to keep the evidence down. Of course, that's what some creationists believe in anyway, but to a more reasonable person it's ridiculous.Kitsune wrote:I do not support Creationism in an way but I am surprised they haven't picked up on this in a more organized manner. A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.
