Sometime before the end of 2003, the ST vs SW internet debate will recieve some sort of mainstream media coverage, and more than likely this board shall be named. Thoughts?

They'll pigeon-hole us no matter what we do. We dare try and prove what someone else is saying is wrong (be it Trekkies, fundies, Racists or what ever) we automatically become the evil empire(tm).Ghost Rider wrote:Something about Jihad iggy....
Seriously it was not exactly what we need really...especially with people trying for a reason to pigeon-hole us.
No. I hesitate (for obvious reasons) to edit posts unless it's absolutely necessary, but I am afraid I cannot allow members of the board to take actions in the particular direction that this is going. What was said in the post I edited will not be the topic of further discussion. It's contents will remain between me and Singular Quartet.Frank Hipper wrote:Was it directed at moi?IG-88E wrote:Man, whatever you just said must've been pretty bad.Singuler Quartet wrote:Sorry, guys, keep it civil.

My thoughts behind this thread were along the lines of "somethingawful.co* has quite an audience, our membership is growing every day(for better or worse), and the vitriol hurled at Mike will get noticed". Someone will make mention of it . Sooner or later.Master of Ossus wrote:No. I hesitate (for obvious reasons) to edit posts unless it's absolutely necessary, but I am afraid I cannot allow members of the board to take actions in the particular direction that this is going. Won't happen. Too much cussing. They'd need to bleep out much of the interesting parts of the posts and be left with the dry technical parts.Durandal wrote:I think a media report on the culture of the Vs. debates would be cool.
Hell, just do a report on ASVS or this place to get an idea.
No, but is there some reason it wouldn't be nifty? It's not like it would irrevocably change our community; Trekkies have been popular subculture targets, and they're essentially the same after all these years.Stravo wrote:Do we REALLY need a floodlight exposing this bastion of adult geekdom???
Never seen spicey used as a synonym for spiked. That would be cool, though, wouldn't it?Frank Hipper wrote:Seeing as how my dinner tonight was very spicey, I can see the future.()

Pretty much my thoughts on the whole deal.kojikun wrote:That would be sad and frightening if it happened. first off we dont need millions of people slashdotting SDN. secondly we dont need hoardes of trekkies and fundies and average uber american jungoists swamping the board.
Eh?Darth Pounder wrote:Are we not all ready getting coverage. I thought that MSNBC shite for brains had already done an article on the Board.
