Eight months ago he was dead in the water. Now he's the Republican nominee. Predicting where anyone's political fortunes will be in the distant future is a fool's errand. You might as well say that a Republican presidential victory would so energize the Republican base and so demoralize the Democrats that it would usher in another twenty years of Republican domination. Its all idle speculation.Howzabout another quarter-century (at minimum) of Republikan political dominance in the wake of a failed one-term Democratic presidency? Think about what the country's going to look like after that.

When ballots have fairly and constitutionally decided, there can be no successful appeal back to bullets.

Oil an emergency?! It's about time, Brigadier, that the leaders of this planet of yours realised that to remain dependent upon a mineral slime simply doesn't make sense.

Sorry, no. McCain is still the lunatic Republican. My distaste and outright hatred for Cunton aside, he'll continue the Bush legacy both foreign and domestically. At least with Cunton we wouldn't have as much to worry about on domestic issues. The degree of evil may not be as wide as I'd like, but in a Cunton/McCain match up, the bitch is still the lesser of the 2.Strider wrote:At this point, a choice between Hillary and McCain is a choice between the third straight term of a lunatic in the White House and the third straight term of a Republican. I think I'd swallow my bile and give it to the Republican, honestly.

When this race started, I pretty much thought, "Obama is my first choice, but I'll gladly vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination." After her blatant race-baiting, fear-mongering and open mockery of those with whom Obama's message resonates, that's just not going to happen. When she gave her speech about how Obama just thinks the "clouds will part" and he'll "wave a magic wand", that was when I decided not to vote for her. Obviously, she thinks that I'm stupid and naïve for believing that Barack Obama can be a president who can change the way things work in Washington. And if she wants to mock a large part of her Democratic constituency, fine. Hope she enjoys not having my vote.
Frankly, I think Olbermann gave her way too much credit in his special comment. This is not some innocent victim of a badly managed campaign. Say what you will about her, but Hillary Clinton is not a stupid woman, and she does know how to run a campaign on some level. If she has seriously ceded so much control to her campaign advisers that they're allowed to run amok race-baiting and using wedge tactics, then she's simply an incompetent twit with a serious entitlement problem. But I think it's more likely that she came into the race thinking that she had some sort of divine right to the nomination and the presidency, and then she got pissed off when someone actually challenged her.
I'd sooner vote for Ron Paul than Hillary at this point. In all likelihood, I'll be writing in Obama on Election Day if he doesn't get the nomination.
