Computer problem

Post by Boyish-Tigerlilly »

Hello. I am having a problem, and I can't figure out what the cause is. Do any of you have an inclination? I boot my computer, everything works fine until I get to the desktop. All of the sudden, I get an error, says a file is missing (I can check again to tell you which one), and then the background items entirely disappear and I get a blank background screen. No icons, no start bar, nothing.

It just happened recently, and I doubt I had gotten a virus. I am puzzled. The problem doesn't manifest in safe-mode, either. :(

If it's windows try to hit ctrl+alt+delete, then in the task manager click File>New Task and run explorer.exe

That might help.
I had a Bill Maher quote here. But fuck him for his white privelegy "joke".

All the rest? Too long.

Thanks. I finally got a temporary band-aid on the problem. I went to system control and disabled the start-up line of programmes, and that eliminated the problem. I surmise that there's some problem in one of the system tray programmes that came up.

The file that was having the problem was peddypee.dll, and I have no idea what the hell that is. I can't find it on google either. It was having a hard time accessing/running it.

I now have to try each programme individually by reactivating it to find out what the hell is up.
