PSP hippothetical
Let us assume for a moment that I have purchased a brand spanking new PSP in shiny Piano Black. Assuming that I have done this (hippothetically), what would the people suggest I get to play on it.
What is Project Zohar?
Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

X-Com for PSP? What? Where? I've heard nothing of this. I demand evidence!!Nephtys wrote:X-COM and Disgaea!
On topic.. well, if you're into S-RPGs defintely get Disgaea, Jeanne D'Arc and Final Fantasy Tactics and maybe the new Wild ARMs XF.
If you like RPGs in general there's Final Fantasy I & II, Valkyrie Profile, Tales of the World, Tales of Eternia..
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is pretty good also, as is Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles if you like old school hard-as-nails platforming (along with Symphony of the Night of course).
Finally if you wish to sell your soul to Square Enix's never ending Final Fantasy 7 spin-offery, there's Crisis Core out on the 25th.

If you like quirky, rythm/RTS/RPG... things it's hard to go wrong with Patapon for $20. The style is great and it can be a lot of fun. Parts can be frustrating though.
It's a great system if you like SRPGs but don't get Spectral Souls (load times kill everything) and I have a hard time recommending Wild Arms XF because, quite frankly, it's not much fun. Jeane D'Arc, FFT, and Disgaea make up for it though.
On the RPG front things are a little shakier. Tales of the World is a blast and the FF1 and FF2 remakes are nice enough. Brave Story was a pleasant suprise with nice graphics and tongue planted firmly in cheek. Also, I really enjoyed the Valkyrie Profile remake. The Legend of Heroes games are just so... bland. I didn't play Astonishia Story but when the back of the box touts "one button Game-play" as a feature you know it's time to look elsewhere. Blade Dancer and Dragoneers Aria just suck. A lot.
If you like dungeon crawlers the port of X-Men Legends II has a lot of extra content that the console versions lack and overall is just a blast. The Dungeon Siege game, Throne of Agony is also very nicely done. Y's the Ark of Napishtam is pretty good too, but loads are just a bit too long for me to whole-heartedly recommend it. I'd stay away from the Untold Legend games, they're just lame.
Strategy fans need to get WH40K: Squad Command, it's awesome.
God of War is a blast but it's a bit on the short side (6 hours on the first playthrough) Now, being a GoW game there are some nice incentives to replay and it's a worthy edition of the franchise, but you may want to hold out for a price drop. The two Syphon Filter games are also very impressive.
Wipeout Pure was a lot of fun, I never really got into Lumines.
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron controls for crap so I can't recommend that at all.

You can get X-COM working by downloading a ripped copy of the PS1 version. PSP's newer firmwares (and the awesome haxed ones!) have PS1 emulation built in.Darth Onasi wrote:X-Com for PSP? What? Where? I've heard nothing of this. I demand evidence!!Nephtys wrote:X-COM and Disgaea!

Sorry, it really needed echoing.
Drooling Iguana: No, John. You are the liberals.
Phantasee: So extortion is cooler and it promotes job creation!
Ford Prefect: Maybe there can be a twist ending where Vlad shows up for the one on one duel, only to discover that Sun Tzu ignored it and burnt all his crops.

I am quite fond of Untold Legends, part 1 the second part looked like crap and I didn't bother with it. Playing it was one of the major factors in me buying a PSP in the first place.
Chili Con Carnage is a good laugh too. Very clever game that kept me quite occupied for a while.
