Torchwod Ep. 2x08 - SPOILERS! - A Day in the Death

Post by Broomstick »

The Other Half said he thought it was the best episode yet. It left me feeling kind of "meh".

Oh, and sewing up a gash? One word - "superglue". It's used medically in several applications, from sealing wounds (particularly inside the mouth) to rebuilding vertebrae damaged by osteoporosis or injury. When treating skin injuries in the living normal growth pushes it out of the healing wound. In Zombie Owen's case, it should last a long time.

Owen is still an asshole, even when dead. I mean, they WERE trying to help him. Of course, the Torchwood crew is just highly dysfunctional in so many ways...

Didn't end quite the way I expected.

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.- Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of Serenity, which sums up my feelings regarding the lawsuit discussed here.

I don't get why he couldn't use CPR on the old guy. He's got at least one functioning lung - he's talking - and doesn't need to breathe himself, so he should be great at it.

Not that the story really mattered. this was a character piece about Owen and it did that wonderfully. Well, apart from the Finger Scene, that was at the same time brilliantly effective and really fucking gross.

Considering he put his hand in front of his mouth to see if there was air circulating and found none, I assume it's a property of the glove that allows him to talk.

Out of all the episodes I've watched, this is the best so far.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

You really don't need that much air to talk - you need some significant lung power for CPR. My "let's fix the flaws in this" answer is that he had insufficient lung power for CPR, even if it was adequate for speaking.

Again, this episode is way above the last series efforts.

Owen's appalling treatment of Tosh was brilliant, if very uncomfortable, to watch and extremely well acted. The fact that what he said had more than a grain of truth about it made the scene even rawer.

Last series, the fact that the crew are all emotional cripples was largely washed over. In this series they have made this the focus of the programme and it is much the better for it.

Bounty - the guy is actually a zombie. I think we can safely say there will be a few anomolies in what he is and is not able to do.

Also, this episode saw the end of Martha's involvement. Hurrah.

Owen has negligable breath, despite being able to talk. Trust me on this.

Also, yeah, Torchwood is getting much better.
