Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will campaign Friday at Eugene’s McArthur Court, in what could be one of the last in a decades-long string of presidential campaign rallies at the venerable arena.

The Obama campaign confirmed Tuesday night its plans for a “Stand for Change Rally” with the candidate at the University of Oregon’s Mac Court at 9 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are required for the event, which is free and open to the public. Those interested in tickets should go online to my.barackobama.com/page/s/eugene.

Obama, who will appear at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum, has relied on such arena-sized rallies to bring in thousands of supporters and potential backers at a time to his events.

The events would come six weeks before voting begins in Oregon’s May 20 vote-by-mail primary election. With Obama and Democratic rival Hillary Clinton close in the delegate count for their party’s nomination, Oregon’s late-in-the-game primary is drawing more attention than it normally does in presidential nomination politics.

Obama’s only other Oregon appearance was in September. He appeared at the Oregon Convention Center and drew 4,000 people to the $25-per-person rally.

The 81-year-old Mac Court, which has hosted presidential rallies for the likes of Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan, is set to be replaced by a new arena in 2010.
Cool, I keep forgetting that Eugene is really the only other important "city" in Oregon. I'll have to make sure I have some free time then.

The Portland rally is already "sold out".

Go, go, gadget birth-state! W00T!

If it's anything like the Boise rally, it'll be standing room only.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

You couldn't go if you wanted; the tickets are already all spoken for.

My friend got a ticket. It would be trivial to edit it to show my contact information.
