Ridiculous or awesome? Guitar Hero DS!

I have no idea what kind of reaction I should have to this

My more logical side says, "Looks uncomfortable and silly."

The rest of me screams, "Awesome!"

And in the back of my head there's a little voice saying, "I hope you can still swing like a madman to activate star power."

I want to see a picture of how the fuck you're even supposed to hold it.

The GBA add-on has a strap for your hand, so you hold it in your palm like one of those grip-strengthening things.

IGN has a video attached to the article.
http://ds.ign.com/articles/860/860511p1.html

It actually looks pretty comfortable to hold despite the bulkiness, but using the touch screen for strumming seems like a terrible idea. It looks fine on the easy songs portrayed in the video, but playing something like Through the Fire and the Flames, where the MEDIUM version of the song has 1800 notes? You're going to scratch furiously. Can you imagine how scratched up your screen is going to get?

EDIT: Can I assume this addon won't even work with a DS Phat, only Lite?

Guitar Hero is dead to me since Harmonix isn't making it any more.

Oh, crap. I completely forgot about that! I was looking forward to this, too...
Guitar Hero just isn't the same without the weird in-house Harmonix and Freezepop music in the bonuses. :(

personally, I'm more looking forward to Wii's "Battle of the Bands" due out in April.

Guitar Hero is fun, but I'm not entirely sure I want it on the hand held, it's more for me, a party game to enjoy with friends.

Fuck, I just plain old want better songs. Would it kill them to allow for custom songs to be written up by people on an individual basis? I have absolutely no fucking interest in playing a vast dearth of snotty indie rock songs just so I can play maybe one barely passable metal song.

Ugh. Have you seen screenshots of that game?

It looks just as shitty as it will no doubt play. And even if the gameplay is okay, it's by Disney, so you're going to have to put up with shit-tastic pop songs by their contracted tweeny singer/actors if you want to experience the gameplay.

Ironically enough, I have heard that the Hannah Montana game for the DS is an average-but-not-terrible adventure game and Hannah Montana's Music Creator is bogged down mainly by its poor quality music samples.

If I have to deal with a couple of the drek songs from the Disney Library in order to play the good songs I've seen out of the 30 liscenced (each done in five different styles), then yes...

I will sloth through the drek that is Hannah Montana and the Naked Brothers Band to play Gorillaz and Def Leppard and Soundgarden in reggae style.

Wait is that... I might be confusing that with a similarly-titled game that IS by Disney.

No, the game you're actually talking about will hopefully be cool.

Battle of the Bands? People are looking forward to it?

Battle of the Bands is another "let's jump on the guitar hero bandwagon with a poor imitation!" game, just like after Super Mario Bros came out every company started releasing poor platformers.

Heck, it's being developed by THQ. They're one of the worst developers on the block as far as dumping brand-name crap on the market for profit. They were dumping Nintendogs knockoffs (and Cat simulators as well) all over the market the instant Nintendogs took off. These people develop the Bratz games. They specialize in license titles.

They've only got one or two decent games, like Destroy All Humans.

...which was really largely "Grand Theft Auto"-type mayhem with a few fun twists.

I enjoyed Destroy All Humans, but it had some serious flaws in the interface and controls.
