Laptop Backpacks
This isn't really related to computers technically, but I need a backpack that can carry around my Macbook Pro 15.4" and the backpack must have some degree of durability and carrying capacity. Are there any suggestions for one?

I've found Targus to be a quality brand. Swiss Army backpacks aren't too shabby either, though they don't have quite as much space in them, but more durability. Both'll run you between $50-100 for anything decent however.

Targus makes good product, but I refuse to buy targus products on general principle (They screwed over my dad when he was their CIO).
The backpack I use right now is a Rakgear, it's about... 6 years old now, I think, and I can (with some careful manuvering) fit my laptop, my PSP, my PDA, My 360 plus power supply, two controllers, charger cable and 4 games, as well as my laptop charger, an assortment of USB cables, and a mini mouse. If course, carrying it was a bitch, but it was still convenient. I used it through most of highschool.

Ford Prefect: Maybe there can be a twist ending where Vlad shows up for the one on one duel, only to discover that Sun Tzu ignored it and burnt all his crops.

Checking out their website, the bags do look sturdy and durable. Any chance you own one of the backpacks?phongn wrote:Brenthaven makes very good laptop bags and backpacks.

I have an Arc'teryx pack, and it's utterly fantastic. Thick, comfortable padding all around, a huge carrying capacity, and the most robust zippers and sewing I've ever seen. It was pricey, but it came with a 100 year unlimited warranty - even if I take a knife to it myself. And after owning it a few years, I'm not the least big surprised by that, as all the other bags I've had this long have torn off at the straps or frayed to shreds on the bottom; whereas this one has nary a scratch on it.

Wow. It took me a good minute to remember I didn't have testicles. -xBlackFlash

No, alas. That said, I have examined their briefs and they were very solid: that company has a well-deserved reputation for quality.Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:Checking out their website, the bags do look sturdy and durable. Any chance you own one of the backpacks?
Also, if you are made of cash, Tumi makes excellent equipment.
I have a Samsonite backpack that seems to be indestructible, i've had it for 7 years and 3 laptops and several transcontinental trips, it's pretty spacy too, and i'll even use it to carry clothes in it on short trips or when i don't need the laptop itself, other than a few stains it's still good as new.
This is my backpack, actually, only mine is blue.
