Maybe some people should have read up on their local election laws before they started adhering to Limbaughs instructions
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Thousands of Kentuckians have switched political parties over the past three months, apparently in hopes of voting in the Democratic presidential primary.
Problem is Secretary of State Trey Grayson says Kentucky law forbids people who switch parties after Dec. 31 from voting in the presidential primary.
Grayson said Kentucky election officials have been warning political groups and campaign workers that encouraging Republicans and independents to switch to the Democratic Party will be of no benefit in the primary.
Some 9,000 people have switched parties since Jan. 1.
Out of interest, why are people prohibited from switching parties after December 31st? Is Kentucky afraid that masses of Republicans will switch in order to "sabotage" the state's Democratic primaries (and/or vice versa) or is there some other reason?

Probably. I know that in New York, changes in party affiliation don't apply until after the next general election. It sounds like KY has closed primaries as well, and is looking to avoid that sort of thing, i.e. people changing their party from Republican to Democrat to try to sabotage the Democratic primaries by voting for a weaker candidate, and the deadline being Dec. 31 makes sense given how early the primaries started in '08. If this wasn't so, people would be jumping ship in droves since McCain is the Republican nominee-elect and there would be no point in voting for him, so they'd switch their party to Democrat and vote for whoever fared worse against McCain, just to try to tip the scales in November.

Im not sure but it would probably be related to this exact situation, they dont want people playing the switcheroo game to sabotage the election for the other side, wich makes sense.
