Anti-Emo Pogroms in Mexico

Post by Warsie »

I remember a lot of Americans talking about wanting to beat up emo kids, emocide, emo kid beatdown day, etc. Well the Mexicans are actually doing it

http://tinyurl.com/2klkhf
Brock Thiessen at Exclaim reports on the anti-emo backlash said to be sweeping through Mexico:

According to Daniel Hernandez, who’s been covering the anti-emo riots on his blog Intersections, the violence began March 7, when an estimated 800 young people poured into the Mexican city of Queretaro’s main plaza “hunting” for emo kids to pummel. Then the following weekend similar violence occurred in Mexico City at the Glorieta de Insurgents, a central gathering space for emos. Hernandez also reports that several anti-emo riots have now also spread to various other Mexican cities.

Via the Austin American Statesmen, several postings on Mexican social-networking sites, primarily organising spot for these “emo hunts,” have been dug up and translated. One states: “I HATE EMOS!!! They are not even people, they are so stupid, they cry over meaningless things… My school is infested with them, I want to kill them all!”

Another says: “We’ve never seen all the urban tribes unite against one single tribe before… Emos, their way of thinking is for crap, if you are so depressed please do us all a favour and kill yourselves!”
there's a bunch of articles on this

It was posted originally a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure if Warsie's article is an update or simply repeating what Zuul posted.

Lots of variations on that, but that's about the most stereotypical emo kid.

And I didn't post the mexican emo beatings, I posted about a local goth girl getting beaten to death by chavs.

If this is genuine, then this must stop. One thing, this is exactly what these idiots want. The other hand, this is still crime.

If you look at him/her and feel and inexplicable urge to punch the fucker, then its an emo. Keyword is inexplicable.

The only problem with that is that there's already been a slight subsection split off of emo known as 'scenester' which is basically "We dress emo, but we're far more focused on being camwhores than on lamenting on how torturous and hard us upper-middle class folk have it."

Don´t people usually stop caring about "youth sub culture" groups at a certain age and quit wanting to hit people because they dress funny and act in a specific "sub cultur" way?
I know i stopped caring a long time ago.

Yeah, some do. Others don't really learn anything or develop socially beyond their senior high school year, so they think there's nothing wrong with obsessing over youth culture or resolving everything with threats and violence.

I doubt that they are any real sort of "problem" that simply not being a dick about stupid social groupings can't resolve.

Imagine the breed of super-emos that will be created after the upcoming depression hits.
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

They are copiers. They have only a vague idea of what being an emo is about but its from the West, therefore its good.

The only other genuine grouping besides that, I have encountered are ye general eastern-wankers and general medieval reenactors. Archery and horse-riding is popular as a hobby, as it is found somewhere in the glorified medieval ages, which was actually a series of kings trying to hold control over their own nobles.

Huh, so that's "emo."

I am so completely out of touch with today's "youth cultures."

This is one of the signs of the Emo Messiah, AKA the legitimate emo, always depressed and always has a legitimate reason to be so, an emo that people actually feel sorry for!

Another hallmark of the emo is wearing tight girl pants, usualy black.

That's because they look so damn depressing that it is nauseating. As if life itself isn't depressing enough, they have to spread the word of the depression.

Emos are a mostly upper middle class fad (yes, even in Mexico), as such they are mostly rich kids who don't really have much to complain about from life yet, but they like to act angsty and depressed, with a lot of complaining about how shitty life is in some groups, this irritates groups from a lower socio economical status.

It's pretty much the same thing that happens here where people get irritated by the republitards that like to pretend they are being pursued and repressed by the liberal media, only for a stupid an pointless reason, they can act depressed all they want for all i care.

Personally, I find ghetto-posers more obnoxious. The whole emo thing is more funny than irritating to me.

Because they think they have such terrible problems when they generally have lives that, in every observable way, seem fine.

It's sort of like seeing certain pampered Hollywood movie stars complaining about how hard it is to be a filthy rich person who works 2 months a year but has to put up with the scourge of people taking pictures of you. They have absolutely no right to complain about their lives, and a lot of people find it infuriating.
