Things might get ugly in San Francisco, if even a portion of the Chinese descent residents there feel the same way that French and English Chinese felt.
Hopefully that wouldn't be the case.

Because it's the historical and traditional gateway city for Chinese immigrants coming into America. Today its one of the largest ports for unloading Chinese imports and China would very dearly love that to continue. Look at the bright side, if it's bad enough it'll alleviate their overpopulation problem. There are significant cultural differences between Europe, as well as the places colonized by Europe (truly colonized, most of Africa was just raped), and China. These cultural differences pose a problem make it difficult for the Chinese to be anything other than a centralized autocracy. You're right, offering to host the Olympics does constitute and invitation for international scrutiny.that doesn't give the Chinese special immunity from criticism. They were the ones who invited international scrutiny when they courted the Olympics; now they can deal with the consequences.
