It is finally snowing in this fair fucking town. Last week it was goddamned cold with rain. Counties around us, tennessee, counties below us all got a little of the white stuff on the ground, but what did we get? Sleet and rain. Fuck. Right now though, the ground is white. Granted it's not more than 1/2" but still. It was almost a year ago when anything remotely this close came, and that was about four years if not more since the time before that. Unfortunately my plan did not work. I rushed outside with my digital camera, a black pit coat that is down to my feet and has a hood and threw some batteries in one of my lightsabres. I'm backlit, but nothing more than a silouhette with an orange beam coming from my arms. heh. I turned the flash on, but to no prevail. Damn floodlights. What about the rest of you fucktards. Any snow out there?

I think they've even declared drought advisories in some areas... This Winter sucks.

We've got shitloads of snow here right now, and more ice than anybody really cares to think about. The whole Gulf of Finland was frozen over in the three weeks of -25 C and below temperatures we had around Christmas and New Year, and is staying that way until spring. Ship traffic is in trouble, but we've managed to keep the ports open. The Russians are fucked, though, they don't have enough ice-breaking ships. I tell you, going out in when it's -30 C outside and winds going at 20 m/s isn't fun.

But yes, there must be snow and cold during winter, I HATE slushy, sleety winters with temps hovering around zero or a little above. Between -5 and -10 C is best.

Midwest Coast, a little term I coined in the mid 1990's as pat of my effort to bring the Funk to North Central Iowa. It failed utterly.

I tell you though after nearly 20 years of shoveling driveways and digging cars out from underneath piles of white I am glad to be able to wear shorts on a Janurary morning before driving down the coast to "work"

You bastards don't know your luck. It never snows here, hell I don't recall winter temperatures ever dropping below 5 C. If we are really lucky, in a severe winter we might get a sprinkling of snow in the hills, but that is not common. And with temperatures on the weekend looking like they will be around 40 C (104 F) and 35 C for the rest of the week, I would love to go somewhere where they have snow.

Holy shit. This thread accumilated more denizens than I thought was online. Either way, to Spanky, I have no idea were people get an idea that southerners hate snow. Everyone I know loves it. However, usually before we get snow, we get rain. Then it freezes. In '96 I believe, everything had a layer of ice over it. There was snow on the ground, but then it got packed in with mixed rain. When the temprature finally dropped it fucking incased the roads, the ground and generally everything. It was about an inch of ice btw. It was a bitch finding a vehicle that wasn't stuck to the ground. But that's in my area. Not all parts I know get rain like that. The city I'm in sits in a fucking valley at the foothills of the appalachians (sp? awe fuck it). They don't call it the Tennessee Valley for nothing ya know. Either way, I think the snow has finally stopped falling. looking out the window, I'm gauging about 1/2" as predicted (they predict snow everyday in the winter, for once they were right). Unfortunately I don't think the roads will be closed, so I might still have a treacherous trip to my morning class. heh. This is a good snow though, since like I said it normally rains, but it didn't rain a drop.
