mind you the goblins, gnolls, hobgoblins, and orcs have a nice racket going. They send armies of their followers to fight daily wars using only the most crude impliments on a scale that dwarfs the 40k universe, just to feed off the suffering of the wounded souls, before doing it all over again. Yes, 1984 exists in the lower planes as well.
The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin
You know, right now it is very difficult for me to imagine any kind of afterlife that would be better than life itself.
From all representations that I've seen and heard of, they were at best creepy.
That movie with Robin Williams was nice, although the concept of heaven was creepy. First of all, it was like being locked in a golden cage. Secondly, having a sandbox mode at your disposal is not that entertaining, considering that you have to spend an eternity socializing with your imaginations.
Right now, the prospect of NOT EXPERIENCING any afterlife at all seems most appealing to me. That, or just living a nice comfy life with my wife & family, having enough resources do do what we please, having enough problems to have fun overcoming them and NOT BEING aware that we are immortal. I think I would kill myself. I don't want immortality.
Of course, thats a point of view of a 25 year old healthy male, who is in a perfectly happy & loving relationship and wants to experience life. Maybe when Im 98, rich as hell and bored with everything, my idea of fair afterlife will change.
Mind you, I do not take into the account the possibility of having a different perception when your soul (suspension of disbelief=1) actually leaves your body. I find an ethernity of being exposed to the "ultimate goodness of God" a definite no-no. I imagine it like eating a perfect Pepperoni Pizza for 10 years non stop. I would kill myself.

Given what I know about the "grandeur of God", like that god only exposed his back to Moses and not his face because the latter would overwhelm and destroy him, I'd say that eternity in the face of the almighty would be more like having a Force user break into your brain, rip out all your innermost secrets and leave your intellect a steaming puddle of mush. Not much better than hell, really.Tolya wrote:I find an ethernity of being exposed to the "ultimate goodness of God" a definite no-no. Oh, you know, General Covell was a very happy person when Joruus C'Baoth messed him up. It was, of course, until he died. A few hours later afair?Given what I know about the "grandeur of God", like that god only exposed his back to Moses and not his face because the latter would overwhelm and destroy him, I'd say that eternity in the face of the almighty would be more like having a Force user break into your brain, rip out all your innermost secrets and leave your intellect a steaming puddle of mush. It would be ultimate hell if you would be immortal and could not die. But the being who would have it's brain fucked up would not really care. It's just like being a dumbass - you don't really know that you are one, because you are too stupid to notice.
That's why I wrote about the changing state of mind. Of course, objectively, that would still be bad. And one of the reasons that I would prefer an atheist ending. Real ending, no loading of saved games, no god modes, no mad admins. Just erase.
