There is no overbleed with holocaust. The damage is so over the top anyway (Willpower bonus in d10s, Toughness and armour don't apply, fire immunity doesn't apply, death is permenent) that it's unnecessary. Frankly, you need as much holocaust as you can muster against those fuckers.
Either you kill the infected dude or eventually the larva hatch.
d10 larva hatch. If host is killed, 25% of adulthood.
25% chance of a larva metamorphising to an adult if wounded.
Larva=nasty
Adult=unholy death machine.
If you're within holocaust range of them (which is very, very close) you're either going to burn them down or get raped by its armour ignoring warp proboscis or its heinous psyker abilities.

Okay, didn't have the rulebook with me so I just guessed with holocaust, but any sort of overbleed+damage dealing psychic power is unpleasant with those larva because they can just use corpus conversion to boost up their host's power check to an absurd level while causing the body to explode and hatching forth 1d10 more larva 75% of the time and 1d10 adults 25% of the time (if I read that right), so for the larva blowing up their hosts with corpus conversion as quickly as possible is their best strategy. When hunting the larva though you need to bring at the very least bolters, anything less has too great a chance of just wounding them instead of putting them down instantly. I would recommend meltas and plasma guns though.
An assault cannon would be perfect for clearing larva as it's guaranteed to inflict a minimum of 8 damage per hit, plus the tearing (however it works) and the probable righteous fury should kick it up into insta splatter range, and the high ROF lets you splatter lots of the buggers at once to keep them the hell away from you. Of course, it would also be useful against an adult presuming the guy with the gun doesn't go running and screaming away in terror.

Most definitely. Fuck, they'll probably be a challenge for Space Marines if deployed in large enough numbers. I shudder to think what would happen if a bunch of larva were to get loose in an astropath complex.

Large enough numbers is pretty small. Even SM bolters will have a hard time inflicting wounds on something with an effective TB of 16 and they have 20 wounds, the Regeneration power, and the ability to phase through solid objects. A seriously hurt adult is just going to phase through a few walls and then regenerate all that damage in a safe place. Its proboscis does a fuckton of damage and has the warp property so power armour is no protection. They have blood boil as a psychic power and that means they can easily render their foes unconscious (and if a psyker INFESTED at the first opportunity) or dead at range with armour being a nonfactor. Make no mistake. They are very, very bad news. Melta guns and assault cannons for everyone.Academia Nut wrote:Most definitely. And when it phases through the Predator's hull and kills those inside who are armed with (comparatively) laughable bolt pistols and chainswords?Vehrec wrote:This is why space marines have Organic Armor support. I would want a predator at my back if I was fighting one of those.

We're gonna have to do some pretty strong diplomacy with this gang leader, or a lot of someones are gonna be dead by morning. Hopefully not us, but who knows?

Getting into a fight at this point would be a bad thing considering that I test at -20 due to fatigue, yeah, that would be a bad thing. Hopefully though I'll get across the idea of "If you don't want to trust us with your guns, why should we trust you with ours?" while if he does order Nixios and I to do hours worth of maintenance, well then it will be his fault if in our tiredness we forget to chant the fourth syllable of the third line of the Litany of Maintenance and his gun blows up in his face. Not that it would happen of course, we being diligent servants who would take all proper care and attention with the machine spirits, but you know, he doesn't know that about us, now does he?

We'll see how long it takes you to work on all the guns you've stolen first.

Do we even have a count of how much we stole? I took the heavy stubber and as much ammo as I could carry for it, which depending on whether or not you consider the weights listed in the book as being empty or fully loaded would be about 200-400 rounds, and my strength upgrade would probably have come from lifting all that stuff for two hours, but if not then I should have had enough strength to carry the full 900 rounds you said were for the heavy stubbers.

So, surrender all your weapons to your gang allies or engage in a fire fight? What lovely options. It's almost as if you chose to place your lives in the hands of untrustworthy, underhive scum. Wait . . . .

Space marine bolters and autosenses tend not to have too much trouble with 'a few walls'Imperial Overlord wrote:Large enough numbers is pretty small. Depends on the walls. And when you're shooting at something with an effective TB of 16, you don't need any extra problems.NecronLord wrote:

As far as it goes, I'm up for a capture operation on the ganger boss we are observing, and the sooner we can get started on it, the better (with all the proper planning and in character waiting for the right moment of course.)
Lazarus is unable to comment on the matter himself though, as he is sitting in the tunnel waiting for a ganger to stick his head around the corner.

Problem is that this guy won't exactly be eager to give up the names of his fellow heretics and we don't have any expert interrogators. So following him is our best bet, if we can manage it.Raj Ahten wrote:As far as it goes, I'm up for a capture operation on the ganger boss we are observing, and the sooner we can get started on it, the better (with all the proper planning and in character waiting for the right moment of course.)
We, of course, need feedback from Hotfoot on how easy or difficult shadowing him is going to be in this situation.

Well, I'm willing to try following these guys, but I don't think it would be succesfull unless your character has some form of Psychic stealth abilities. Otherwise, we don't really have the skill set required.Imperial Overlord wrote:[

well, Varnius does have Chameleon

Well, then Whats stopping us? (Besides the quite likely extreme danger.)Hawkwings wrote:well, Varnius does have Chameleon
Varnius could do a fairly loose tail while calling out directions to the rest of the team over the comm bead, as they follow a distance behind. Only problem is the recon team would be fucked if the gangers have any kind signal inteligence. Honestly, that is a risk I would be willing to take.
For the people on the team, if you all like this plan, we can write it in as someones suggestion and get to it.
BTW, thanks for the info Hawkings.

Honestly, I think we're playing with a loaded Shrodinger's Gun here in that no matter what we do, we'll end up screwed somehow, although exact actions will determined the degree of screwed. Somehow I bet not following them will cause problems, while following them will cause different problems. Just as I'm sure that if the entire team had stayed behind Diver would have gone off on his own and got the rest of his gang to take us out for "treachery", or the remaining Balimeks would have come back in much greater force. And so and so forth.
It's almost as if there were some sort of malevolent, sentient entity controlling the scenario to make things as cruel and sadistic as possible and guarantee that Murphy's Law takes place...
So make what you think is the right decision people. It will probably come back to bite you in the ass.

There are currently 15-20 gangers in the area that you can see, many of them near the exits to the tunnels. You could attempt to explore the tunnels further, but that is something you do at your own risk.
As for Schrodinger's Gun, well, not exactly. There is a plot to this, and while you all did skip several steps, and had a bit of luck, things are progressing.
Are you all screwed? Well sure, what fun is a game where everything goes wonderfully? Was it because the GM is vindictive and hateful? No, not entirely. You are where you are now in the position you are now because of your team's actions.
I don't prevent people from doing anything other than the utterly impossible.
