So, electrical systems are relatively safe from the gaunts? Or do they have compugaunts? *tries to be serious*

It had occurred to me that simply managing spectroscopic analysis of stars, accurate space travel and interstellar warp travel was perhaps ample demonstration of Nid feats, and certainly their data aqquisition capabilities would merit mathematical comprehension.NecronLord wrote:Oddly enough, yeah, it has. In the Last Chancers omnibus P. 258 talks about the tyranids potentially assimilating all data from the base and its corrupted personnel. At the very least, to be able to make use of that information about sector wide naval deployments, it would have to be able to understand human mathematics, and operate them at a very high level for navigation. This is literal rocket scientist stuff.white_rabbit wrote:Higher fucking math ? What opportunity do you think the Hive Mind has to demonstrate its capability for Higher math, its supposed to be the malevolent alien intelligence controlling a vast swarm of customised alien dinosaurs, not a bloody college student.
Which should come as no surprise; it must have a great deal of high level mathematics for its ships to be able to coast for long periods as they do. Again, rocket science.
But Against the wall of " its all instinctual!" despite evidence to the contrary, I was put more in mind of a Termagant with an abacus and a blackboard being required
In answer to Shrooms question, I expect that primarily the Nids would expect to access inorganic tech via an organic medium, i.e, some poor sod would get a Cortex leech attached to his bonce, and would be forced to access the equipment.
On the other hand, a Warlord Titan has been successfully taken over by Nids, (in yet another example of "instinctual behavior", they ambush a patrolling titan, drag it off and "possess" it.) Of course, this could still be a similar deal, with the Princeps being rewired for Nid needs, servitors replaced by beasties etc.

Oh, I expect a lot of thier spaceflight probably is instinctual\automatic. Which just makes it more impressive; not only does the Hive Mind know all this stuff, it knows it well enough to be able to write organic 'instincts' that do it.

The BFG rules do their best to simulate it all, something being "instinctual" isn't a problem, its actually pretty smart as you say.
Then you get set on fire, and some overbrain tells you its "not a problem"
