[Discussion] VI for Brianeyci?
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, I give you Brianeyci.
In the past he has been a stonewaller, a willful idiot, and a shameless synchopant when beaten down in debates, to the point of attempting to be a yes-man to Mike. In the past, he has gone so far as to namedrop Mike Wong in an argument, mis-quoting Mike to make it seem that Mike agreed with his position (It was in fact the polar opposite of the quote Mike made.
Now, in this thread Brian has committed multiple DR5 and 6 violations, and the time has come to say Enough is Enough.
What should be done about Braineyci?

I think this is, indeed, well due for a look.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Yeah, his blatant idiocy has gone on for long enough unremarked upon. Thank you for starting this thread. VI.

He should have been VI'd months ago. He's gotten to the point where it's hard to read his posts due to the verbal diarrhea and usually there's not much worth reading in them either, especially if there are others with more concise input posting in the thread. Doesn't help his case that most of the time he just plain gets his shit wrong.

Wasn't he up for VI a few years ago, and barely escaped?
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Possibly. He just primarily needs to be taught that he's a fucking wanker--I'll check and see if there was a Senate thread or if that was pre-Senate.Surlethe wrote:Wasn't he up for VI a few years ago, and barely escaped?

Funny, I recently received an e-mail from him stating he was done with this forum and was leaving it for good. If he hasn't posted since last Wednesday (the 9th) this may indeed be the case in which the problem has solved itself.

If he has in fact not posted since Wednesday the 9th after a message like that, I would strongly support changing this to a "Don't let the door hit your ass as you leave!" style Ban-poll to help him in his decision to stay gone. If he's removed himself then why bother? Aren't there better things to spend time on that someone who has already left? HOS the relevant parts of the thread, and forget about it. It's been done before to help people make up their mind, i.e., to prevent them from ever returning in the future.

We have a motion for a VI poll with the possibility that he is done and needs a "get out and stay out" ban. I'm going to post up just the VI poll on Tueday night unless there is a shift in favor of a ban poll.

Yeah, sure. I have multiple old PMs from him sitting in my inbox where he says he's done debating on the forum. He'll be back.Broomstick wrote:Funny, I recently received an e-mail from him stating he was done with this forum and was leaving it for good. As for the "don't let the door hit you in the ass" ban, that rule only applies to people who make a public show of leaving, which he hasn't. I wouldn't say I'd miss him, but I think if people want a ban, then they ought to make a case for a regular ban.

Edit: I'm tired, I'm cranky, I'm going to try and be nicer about this.
Why are we caring about him at ALL that we must waste time on a poll for him? Especially if he's left for now? I don't see why we should waste time on him unless he DOES come back.
I frankly don't give a shit about him and I don't think he's important enough to warrant banning or titling unless he comes back. He's like a number of idiots we still have lurking around here (minor and major)
Edit 2:
Does he actually have a RECORD of breaking rules, or is this actually the first time? I'm not actually in the mood to have to dig through another huge-ass debate just to decide for myself at this time.

I learned to ignore him very long ago, more people should figure out how to do that

I guess he's just never irritated me to that level. He isn't a good debater, that's certain, but he's never pissed me off to the degree some others have, and clearly not as much as he has pissed off some other here. The Duchess of Zeon wrote:It's been done before to help people make up their mind, i.e., to prevent them from ever returning in the future.
I say, don't bother unless he comes back. Strictly my opinion, of course, and if folks are set on a poll I certainly can't stop them.

In that case, I officially move that we table this until (if) he comes back, at which point we can re-asses the situation and continue if it is deemed necessary.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

Wait, so if someone with a long history of breaking debate rules finally gets dragged up in front of the Senate for a titling poll, all he has to do is disappear for a while and tell someone he's leaving the board and he's in the clear?
I object to the motion to table. This is a clear cut VI case.

Red Imp, the discussion is between a title and some say a ban. If he goes away for however many years, even, and then comes back, he goes right back to "title or ban" status.
In this case, the idea is to prevent someone from "attention whoring from beyond the grave", by having us tussle over them after they've already departed. IMO, anyhow.

I'll second the objection. I don't see why his absence is a reason we shouldn't pursue the case to its conclusion. It's not like this is pandering to his attention-whoring, anyway; this is almost certainly the kind of attention he doesn't want.RedImperator wrote:I object to the motion to table.
