GTA IV censored section for AU/NZ revealed.

Apparently they're trimming a portion of a cutscene where Niko engages in "sexual violence" in this case meaning penetration of some sort with a firearm.

Can't say that it bothers me greatly that they're cutting that. As long as, you know, it doesn't turn out to be a turning point in the story or anything.

I'm just glad it's not gameplay. I couldn't give fuck about the story or the cutscenes: if the gameplay is untouched I'm fine with it.

Otherwise I'll just buy it in NZ lol.

You can fucking exterminate an entire nation on screen and nobody gives a damn. Put the word "sex" on the screen and people start to shit their pants.

The worst thing is that the games are certificated as adult anyway. I noticed a mother buying San Andreas in my local Game store, the kid she had with her was about 12. The assistant pointed to the 18 BBFC certificate (the mandatory one) and said "You realise this game is only suitable for 18 and over, its pretty violent." She said yes.

Now the assistant more or less knew that she was buying it for the kid, and even warned her, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was one of the folk complaining about the games violent content.

Err, while any time to OFLC does pretty much anything pisses me off, this is by far one of the most minor and insignificant they've ever done. It's not like they banned the sale of a game because it was about graffiti.

Say so long to those delay rumors. While word has yet to come on whether Take-Two will accede to Electronic Arts' $2 billion acquisition offer, one scenario that will not occur is analysts' speculated delay of Grand Theft Auto IV.

During Take-Two's shareholders' meeting today, the publisher said that GTAIV has gone gold. The game is "in production and in trucks en route to retailers," proclaimed Take-Two CEO Ben Feder. Rated M for Mature, GTAIV will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 29.

Though it won't be released for another 12 days, industry watchers have already projected a massive debut from the next installment in Rockstar North's prized franchise. Last October, Janco Partner's Mike Hickey projected global opening-week sales of more than 9.5 million, with 5.8 million units turning up in US consumers' hands alone. Earlier this week, Variety reported that sources within Take-Two fully expect the game to sell some 6 million units in its opening week, generating revenue in excess of $400 million.

I really get the feeling that this launch will a) destroy in every quantifiable measure Halo 3's launch and b) thusly also set a new record for biggest media launch.

And Take 2 will still be bought by EA.

And of course the PC release probably won't come out until the Christmas period if not later. Still sucks and though I have a PS3, I most likely won't buy a copy of GTA4 until the PC release.

But if this is the case then hello 120gb 360 HDD because you know you are going to need it. And it will be totally worth your while...

I can't see them doing DLC that size as an exclusive, but the rumours of having a minor addon campaign to GTAIV as exclusive to 360 I'll certainly believe.

But having the equivalent of Vice City and San Andreas as exclusives? Rockstar/Take 2/EA would have to have been given a money-hat to rival all money-hats.

Though, I'd be willing to bet that Take 2 would grab that money-hat with both hands right now, so who the fuck knows?
