Rabid fanboys willing to pay top dollar for fights not story.Masami von Weizegger wrote:... Yeah.
When was the last time Mortal Kombat mattered anyway? I can take or leave its shitty plot and multitude of crappy characters. I mean, what does MK bring to the table here?
I am an MK fan and I did find the plotline of every game to be crappy but I play the game for the fighting tournaments.

The fame of Mortal Kombat was entirely due to the fountains of cheap sprite-based blood in the original game. Then they made one good movie and one horrible sequel. After that, they've just been milking the game's history.

I'm not sure how this work. Surely most of the money making DC characters could run riot over the MK crew.
Is this going to be like those episodes of SuperFriends where Superman will be in another galaxy fixing a rocket or something so the Legion of Doom can almost seem like they have a chance?

If this allows me to have Lobo and Sub-Zero (two characters i consider awesome) fight, then i will be pleased.
I should add that, i'm something of an MK fanboy. Yes the story is bad, but you know what, if you come to a FIGHTING GAME looking for a good story...you need to rethink your priorities my good friend.
That being said, the first three were undoubtedly the best, and MK Armageddon didnt sex my world the way i had hoped it would. But still, it's a good franchise, so why the hell not.

Is that the beat 'em up with Liu Kang and the dude with the Oddjob hat?weemadando wrote:Everyone here overlooks the amazing fountain of awesome that was MK: Shaolin Monks.
What? WHAT? Why are you all looking at me like that?
I played that once or twice i thought it was pretty cool, though perhaps a little repetitive, but fun enough. (assuming we're talking about the same game...if you mean that Sub-Zero game from ages ago, whose name i cant recall, then i'm mistaken)

Yeah, it was Liu Kang and Kung Lao. It was awesome fun two player just juggling a bad-guy for ages between you. And there was also a "just plain win" spot very early on with infinitely spawning mooks who allowed you to level at an amazing rate until you either capped or got bored.18-Till-I-Die wrote:Is that the beat 'em up with Liu Kang and the dude with the Oddjob hat?weemadando wrote:Everyone here overlooks the amazing fountain of awesome that was MK: Shaolin Monks.

Yeah. Just because the DC heroes are pussies with their "No Kill" rule, you're now going to prevent Kano from ripping someone's head off, backbone and all?weemadando wrote:This game will apparently not feature fatalities according to Kotaku.
Hurrah. How is this MK still?
Goddamn DC for not letting Johnny Cage punch Wonder Woman's head off.

*nerd snort* EErrrrm. Actually, Kano rips people's hearts out of their chest. Sub-Zero is the one who does the head and spine removal.RogueIce wrote:Yeah. DC and Marvel should just stop being pansies and have it out with DC vs Marvel dammit. Besides, it would be more entertaining than Busiek's attempt at it .
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."
