Roving patrols, or at least some sort of signal in Galactica's command area (and others):CaptJodan wrote:I actually had a problem with that in this episode, and others prior to it as well. After New Caprica, the Galactica was packed full of people. They lost more ships when they lost Cat. People were crammed in there for one episode with the crazed doctor. Now the hallways are almost deserted, and the hanger bay is completely deserted. I realize the civilians can't get access to the hanger, but I find it hard to believe Galactica is short handed. They probably can draft some of the civies aboard to work on things, which means there really shouldn't be a completely empty hanger.Thag wrote:Out of curiosity, does anyone else wonder why there are long stretches where the hanger bay is abandoned? I realize they're running shorthanded, but come on! From the outside views they're running a CAP nearly constantly, and there's more than enough work to do on the downed ships. Instead, it seems like it spends half the day empty. With all the airlocking fun of the last two seasons, I'd think there'd at least be a roving patrol.
Nameless crewmember: Sir! I'm showing a green light in Tube 6, portside launch bay Aplha-3!
Officer of the deck: ..the hell? Flight, do we have any patrols scheduled for that tube?
Appropriate flight control type: No sir. That whole bay is shut down for the night.
OOD: Security, who do we have in that section?
Security officer: Sir, we've been a bit short-handed lately. No one is in that immediate area and isn't due to be for another 10 minutes.
OOD: I don't like it. Wake the old man right now. Tell him we may have a possible unauthorized access to that tube. Security, get someone over there right now..
And so on. Of course, maybe this is how it happens, off-screen and how Adama was informed.
I will be curious to see if Cally's body was recovered (doesn't seem likely) or if there is a search for the presumably-unfound baby. I don't recall much use of security cameras on the show, because if they existed and weren't tampered with, it would seem to be a natural thing to have in lieu of constant patrols.
Seems unlikely for Tori to show up with the baby: "Look who I found outside the launch bay!"

Why should the baby be missing? There've been no real hints in that direction yet. Chief got knocked out with a frakking wrench. Is there something wrong with the idea that Tori puts the baby back in the crib before he wakes up?FSTargetDrone wrote: I will be curious to see if Cally's body was recovered (doesn't seem likely) or if there is a search for the presumably-unfound baby. And risk being seen near or heading towards Tyrol and Cally's quarters afterwards? Several people saw Cally leaving with the baby. Tori surely cannot risk that and must assume Cally was seen with the baby by someone, somewhere, between the private quarters and the hangar deck.
My guess is that Tori takes and hides the child somewhere, possibly revealing it to Tyrol later. She obviously wanted the child, and seeing an opportunity to take it, did so. Of course, if she does take the child to a hiding place, she has to do so unseen.

Here's a thought: Let's assume Tory can't just hand the baby back to Tyrol because he'll know she murdered Cally. What could she possibly do with him?
She takes him to the cult.
All she has to do is spin a yarn about Cally being a Cylon and getting spaced as a direct or indirect result of that revelation. She knows from personal experience just what President Baby Snatcher does with half-Cylon children, not to mention what a disaster that turned out to be, so she just can't let him stay with his father.
The cult will probably be calling Nicky "God's only son" by the next scene, and Tory will have Baltar eating out of the palm of her hand.

I actually expect Tigh or Tyrol to try to expose themselves and find a mental block in place. It's telling that even die-hard loyal Tigh hasn't even thought of turning himself in yet...he's the kind of man who'd see his life as secondary to the fleet's safety.I suppose I can't argue with that, but it doesn't make much sense for Tyrol not to tell Adama what happened.
I disagree, I liked the fact that Jammer helped her. Then he got spaced anyway. Then she got spaced anyway, but there you go.As for Cally, she should have died a long time ago, e.g. in the execution on New Caprica. Would have made for better TV and since then, she has not done much to advance the plot.
Oooh, I like this idea. The cult will probably be calling Nicky "God's only son" by the next scene, and Tory will have Baltar eating out of the palm of her hand.

What Key?RogueIce wrote:I suppose there would be a question of how Cally managed to space herself with the key in the control room.
I say this because I doubt that key is ever going to be found. From what I saw onscreen you can enter the airlock, turn the key to release the safety (Light turns from RED to GREEN), then remove the key.
If memory serves, Cally woke up to see the access panel open with the Green light on but no key in it. Then Tory inserts the key inside the control room, the light switches from Red to Green, then she hits the button.
It is reasonable in my mind to assume that Cally went into the Airlock, inserted the key, turned the key, removed the key, and pressed the button to vent the airlock. If that is the case then there is no reason to expect that we would ever find the key.
As far as an investigation goes, I don't think that any warrants it. There just aren't enough unanswered questions.
Cally goes in to Doc Cottle and tells him that she isn't sleeping, is taking anti-depressants (which he warns her about). Then drops in his lap that she thinks her husband is having an affair and that he said it's all in her head.
Someone in the crew probably saw her go into the hangar with her child.
Her body is then noted flying out of a launch bay into space, the access control for the bay has been opened and a key used to set it in the override position.

That's probably a pretty good idea of how it went down, but my problem lies more with how it was able to go down. As I said, I find it hard to believe that Cally was able to just wander into what is (I would think) one of the most vital and active areas of the ship with a baby seemingly unnoticed. An area that's supposed to be populated by her friends and co-workers, most of whom know that she's a couple cans short of a six-pack, and nobody goes, "Hey, hang on a sec, what's going on here?"FSTargetDrone wrote:Roving patrols, or at least some sort of signal in Galactica's command area (and others):CaptJodan wrote:I actually had a problem with that in this episode, and others prior to it as well. Unless I am mistaken, the starboard flight pod has never been used since Galactica's abortive retirement ceremony, other than by a Cylon boarding team.neoolong wrote:Are both hangers active now? I remember one was turned into a museum, but that was a while ago.
Also, there is the fact that a launch tube was used to space people in Collaborators. I guess someone must have used their access to clear it though I guess.
As far as gaining access to the tube(s) to execute people, Tigh was part of that, so getting access was probably trivial for him.
Some point in season 3 there was a mention of a Raptor "cleared for landing in the starboard hanger".neoolong wrote:Are both hangers active now? I remember one was turned into a museum, but that was a while ago.

^ You sure? Last I remember it had been turned into Dogsville. Then again, my knowledge of late season 3 is far from encyclopedic.
The Galactica did inherit Pegasus' entire complement of Vipers and Raptors, but I thought they still operated out of one launch. Even in the enormous crisis that was the nebula battle, they only appeared to use one launch bay.

My blog, please check out and comment! http://decepticylon.blogspot.comIt's possible that they use the starboard bay for some Raptor ops, since they do not require the use of launch tubes. As for Dogsville? A flight pod is a lengthy component of the ship; they could afford to give over at least half of one for living space and still have plenty of room to service and repair Raptors.
